We observe the 1.2 mm continuum emission around the OB cluster forming region G10.6-0.4, using the IRAM 30m telescope MAMBO-2 bolometer array and the Submillimeter array. Comparison of the Spitzer 24 $mu$m and 8 $mu$m images with our 1.2 mm continuum maps reveals the ionization front of an HII region, the photon-dominated layer, and several 5 pc scale filaments following the outer edge of the photon-dominated layer. The filaments, which are resolved in the MAMBO-2 observations, show regularly spaced parsec-scale molecular clumps, embedded with a cluster of submillimeter molecular cores as shown in the SMA 0.87 mm observations. Toward the center of the G10.6-0.4 region, the combined SMA+IRAM 30m continuum image reveals several, parsec-scale protrusions. They may continue down to within 0.1 pc of the geometric center of a dense 3 pc size structure, where a 200 M$_{odot}$ OB cluster resides. The observed filaments may facilitate mass accretion onto the central cluster--forming region in the presence of strong radiative and mechanical stellar feedbacks. Their filamentary geometry may also facilitate fragmentation. We did not detect any significant polarized emission at 0.87 mm in the inner 1 pc region with the SMA.

Stellar feedback -- stars regulating further star formation through the injection of energy and momentum into the interstellar medium -- operates through a complex set of processes that originate in star clusters but shape entire galaxies. A mature t heory of stellar feedback is essential to a complete theory of star and galaxy formation, but the energy and momentum injected by hot gas into its surroundings remains unclear. With a next-generation X-ray observatory, breakthrough progress can be made through precision measurements of the temperature, density, velocity, and abundances of hot gas on scales of star clusters to galactic superwinds.

We present the images and kinematics of circumnuclear molecular gas from 100 pc scale down to 10 pc scale in nearby active galactic nuclei (AGNs) using the Submillimeter Array (SMA) and the Plateau de Bure Interferometer (PdBI). We have observed seve ral nearby galaxies that host AGNs, such as the nearest radio galaxy Centaurus A (NGC 5128), the Seyfert 2 galaxy M51 (NGC 5194), the Seyfert 2 galaxy NGC 1068, the Seyfert 1 galaxy NGC 1097, and the Seyfert 2 / starburst composite galaxy NGC 4945, in CO lines to see whether the molecular gas distribution, kinematics, and physical conditions at 10 - 100 pc scale follows the AGN unified model or not. In 100 pc scale, most of the circumnuclear molecular gas shows smooth velocity gradient, suggesting a regular rotating feature, and also shows abnormal line ratios, suggesting the existence of active sources to make the circumnuclear molecular gas dense and/or warm conditions or abnormal chemical compositions. In 10 pc scale, on the other hand, the molecular gas kinematics shows various characteristics, some shows very disturbed kinematics such as a jet-entrained feature in the galaxies that have jets, but some still shows regular rotation feature in a galaxy that does not have obvious jets. These results indicate that the kinematics and physical/chemical conditions of the circumnuclear molecular gas at the scale less than 100 pc is highly affected by the AGN activities, and at this scale, there is no clear evidence of any unified feature seen in the circumnuclear molecular gas.
We study a possible connection between processes of gamma-ray emission and hydrogen ionization in a few pc of central region around Sgr A*. Previous investigations showed there is a discrepancy between interpretation of gamma-ray and ionization data if gamma-rays are generated by proton-proton collisions. Here we provided analysis of processes of ionization and emission basing on analytical and numerical calculations of kinetic equations which describe processes of particle propagation and their energy losses. The origin of gamma rays could be either due to collisions of relativistic protons with the dense gas of the surrounding circumnuclear disk (CND) or bremsstrahlung and inverse Compton scattering of relativistic electrons. The hydrogen ionization in this case is produced by a low energy component of the CR spectrum. We found that if ionization is produced by protons the expected ionization rate of hydrogen in the CND is of the same order as derived from IR observations. So we do not see any discrepancy between the gamma-ray and ionization data for the hadronic model. In the case of ionization by electrons we obtained the ionization rate one order of magnitude higher than follows from the IR data. In principle, a selection between the leptonic and hadronic interpretations can be performed basing on measurements of radio and X-ray fluxes from this region because the leptonic and hadronic models give different values of the fluxes from there. We do not exclude that gamma-ray production and hydrogen ionization in the CND are due to a past activity of Sgr A* which occurred about 100 year ago. Then we hypothesize that there may be connection between a past proton eruption and a flux of hard X-rays emitted by Sgr A* hundred years ago as follows from the observed time variability of the iron line seen in the direction of GC molecular clouds.
Using Gaia DR2 data, we present an up-to-date sample of white dwarfs within 20 pc of the Sun. In total we identified 139 systems in Gaia DR2, nine of which are new detections, with the closest of these located at a distance of 13.05 pc. We estimated atmospheric parameters for all stellar remnants based on the Gaia parallaxes and photometry. The high precision and completeness of the Gaia astrometry allowed us to search for wide binary companions. We re-identified all known binaries where both components have accurate DR2 astrometry, and established the binarity of one of the nine newly identified white dwarfs. No new companions were found to previously known 20 pc white dwarfs. Finally, we estimated the local white dwarf space-density to be $(4.49pm0.38)times10^{-3}$ pc$^{-3}$, having given careful consideration to the distance-dependent Gaia completeness, which misses known objects at short distances, but is close to complete for white dwarfs near 20 pc.

X-rays are a powerful probe of activity in early stages of star formation. They allow us to identify young stars even after they have lost the IR signatures of circumstellar disks and provide constraints on their distance. Here we report on XMM-Newto n observations which detect 121 young stellar objects (YSOs) in two fields between L1641S and $kappa$ Ori. These observations extend the Survey of Orion A with XMM and Spitzer (SOXS). The YSOs are contained in a ring of gas and dust apparent at millimeter wavelengths, and in far-IR and near-IR surveys. The X-ray luminosity function of the young stellar objects detected in the two fields indicates a distance of 250-280 pc, much closer than the Orion A cloud and similar to distance estimates of $kappa$ Ori. We propose that the ring is a 5-8 pc diameter shell that has been swept up by $kappa$ Ori. This ring contains several groups of stars detected by Spitzer and WISE including one surrounding the Herbig Ae/Be stars V1818 Ori. In this interpretation, the $kappa$ Ori ring is one of several shells swept up by massive stars within the Orion Eridanus Superbubble, and is unrelated to the southern portion of Orion A / L1641 S.
