Sensitive and high angular resolution ($sim$ $0rlap.{}7$) (sub)millimeter line and continuum observations of the massive star forming region W3(OH) made with the Submillimeter Array are presented. We report the first detection of two bipolar outflows emanating from the young and massive Turner-Welch [TW] protobinary system detected by the emission of the carbon monoxide. The outflows are massive (10 M$_odot$), highly-collimated (10$^circ$), and seem to be the extended molecular component of the strong radio jets and a 22 GHz maser water outflow energized also by the stars in the W3(OH)TW system. Observations of the 890 $mu$m continuum emission and the thermal emission of the CH$_3$OH might suggest the presence of two rotating circumstellar disk-like structures associated with the binary system. The disks-like structures have sizes of about 1500 AU, masses of a few M$_odot$ and appear to energize the molecular outflows and radio jets. We estimate that the young stars feeding the outflows and that are surrounded by the massive disk-like structures maybe are B-type.

We have observed a high-mass protobinary system in the hot core W3(H2O) with the BIMA Array. Our continuum maps at wavelengths of 1.4mm and 2.8mm both achieve sub-arcsecond angular resolutions and show a double-peaked morphology. The angular separati on of the two sources is 1.19 corresponding to 2.43X10^3 AU at the source distance of 2.04 kpc. The flux densities of the two sources at 1.4mm and 2.8mm have a spectral index of 3, translating to an opacity law of kappa ~ nu. The small spectral indices suggest that grain growth has begun in the hot core. We have also observed 5 K components of the CH3CN (12-11) transitions. A radial velocity difference of 2.81 km/s is found towards the two continuum peaks. Interpreting these two sources as binary components in orbit about one another, we find a minimum mass of 22 Msun for the system. Radiative transfer models are constructed to explain both the continuum and methyl cyanide line observations of each source. Power-law distributions of both density and temperature are derived. Density distributions close to the free-fall value, r^-1.5, are found for both components, suggesting continuing accretion. The derived luminosities suggest the two sources have equivalent zero-age main sequence (ZAMS) spectral type B0.5 - B0. The nebular masses derived from the continuum observations are about 5 Msun for source A and 4 Msun for source C. A velocity gradient previously detected may be explained by unresolved binary rotation with a small velocity difference.
The HII region W3 is one of the most outstanding regions of high-mass star formation. Based on a new analysis of the $^{12}$CO($J$ = 2-1) data obtained at 38$$ resolution, we have found that each of the two active regions of high-mass star formation, W3 Main and W3(OH), is associated with two clouds of different velocities separated by 3-4 km s$^{-1}$, having cloud mass of 2000-4000 $M_odot$ in each. In the two regions we have found typical signatures of a cloud-cloud collision, i.e.,the complementary distribution with/without a displacement between the two clouds and/or a V-shape in the position-velocity diagram. We frame a hypothesis that a cloud-cloud collision triggered the high-mass star formation in the two regions. The collision in W3 Main involves a small cloud of $sim$5 pc in diameter which collided with a large cloud of 10 pc $times$ 20 pc. The collision in W3 Main compressed the gas in the direction of the collision path toward the west over a timescale of $sim$1 Myr, where the dense gas W3 core associated with ten O stars are formed. The collision also produced a cavity in the large cloud having a size similar to the small cloud. The collision in W3(OH) has a younger timescale of $sim$0.5 Myr and the forming-star candidates are heavily embedded in the clouds. The results reinforce the idea that a cloud-cloud collision is an essential process in high-mass star formation by rapidly creating the initial condition of 1 g cm$^{-2}$ in the natal gas.
We present the first 6.7 GHz methanol maser linear polarization map of the extended filamentary maser structure around the compact HII region W3(OH). The methanol masers show linear polarization up to 8 per cent and the polarization angles indicate a magnetic field direction along the North-South maser structure. The polarization angles are consistent with those measured for the OH masers, taking into account external Faraday rotation toward W3(OH), and confirm that the OH and methanol masers are found in similar physical conditions. Additionally we discuss the Zeeman splitting of the 6.7 GHz methanol transition and present an upper limit of ~22 mG for the magnetic field strength in the maser region. The upper limit is fully consistent with the field strengths derived from OH maser Zeeman splitting.
The NGC 1333 IRAS 4A protobinary was observed in the ammonia (2, 2) and (3, 3) lines and in the 1.3 cm continuum with a high resolution (about 1.0 arcsec). The ammonia maps show two compact sources, one for each protostar, and they are probably proto stellar accretion disks. The disk associated with IRAS 4A2 is seen nearly edge-on and shows an indication of rotation. The A2 disk is brighter in the ammonia lines but dimmer in the dust continuum than its sibling disk, with the ammonia-to-dust flux ratios different by about an order of magnitude. This difference suggests that the twin disks have surprisingly dissimilar characters, one gas-rich and the other dusty. The A2 disk may be unusually active or hot, as indicated by its association with water vapor masers. The existence of two very dissimilar disks in a binary system suggests that the formation process of multiple systems has a controlling agent lacking in the isolated star formation process and that stars belonging to a multiple system do not necessarily evolve in phase with each other.

We present sensitive high angular resolution ($sim$ 1$$) millimeter continuum and line observations from the massive star forming region DR21(OH) located in the Cygnus X molecular cloud. Within the well-known dusty MM1-2 molecular cores, we report th e detection of a new cluster of about ten compact continuum millimeter sources with masses between 5 and 24 M$_odot$, and sizes of a few thousands of astronomical units. These objects are likely to be large dusty envelopes surrounding massive protostars, some of them most probably driving several of the outflows that emanate from this region. Additionally, we report the detection of strong millimeter emission of formaldehyde (H$_2$CO) and methanol (CH$_3$OH) near 218 GHz as well as compact emission from the typical outflow tracers carbon monoxide and silicon monoxide (CO and SiO) toward this massive star-forming region. The H$_2$CO and CH$_3$OH emission is luminous ($sim$ 10$^{-4}$ L$_{odot}$), well resolved, and found along the collimated methanol maser outflow first identified at centimeter wavelengths and in the sources SMA6 and SMA7. Our observations suggest that this maser outflow might be energized by a millimeter source called SMA4 located in the MM2 dusty core. The CO and SiO emission traces some other collimated outflows that emanate from MM1-2 cores, and are not related with the low velocity maser outflow.
