This is a comment on the recent paper by G. S. Adkins and J. McDonnell ``Orbital precession due to central-force perturbations published in Phys. Rev. D75 (2007), 082001 [arXiv:gr-qc/0702015]. We show that the main result of this paper, the formula for the precession of Keplerian orbits induced by central-force perturbations, can be obtained very simply by the use of Hamiltons vector.
We consider the equation of motion of a charged particle or a charged compact object in curved space-time, under the reaction of electromagnetic radiation and also consider a physical situation such that the charged particle or compact object emits g
Detailed measurements of the cosmic microwave background indicate the large-scale homogeneity of the universe. On very small scales, we observe however inhomogeneities such as galaxies, stars, planets and ourselves. In the context of hot Big-Bang cos
Working by analogy, we use the description of light fluctuations due to random collisions of the radiating atoms to figure out why the reduction of the coherence for light propagating a cosmological distance in the fluctuating background space is neg
By making a suitable generalization of the Starobinsky stochastic inflation, we propose a classical phase space formulation of stochastic inflation which may be used for a quantitative study of decoherence of cosmological perturbations during inflati
Backgrounds are pervasive in almost every application of general relativity. Here we consider the Lagrangian formulation of general relativity for large perturbations with respect to a curved background spacetime. We show that Noethers theorem combin
