We review some recent results concerning the quantitative analysis of the universality classes of two-dimensional statistical models near their critical point. We also discuss the exact calculation of the two--point correlation functions of disorder operators in a free theory of complex bosonic and fermionic field, correlators ruled by a Painleve differential equation.

Correlation functions in the O(n) models below the critical temperature are considered. Based on Monte Carlo (MC) data, we confirm the fact stated earlier by Engels and Vogt, that the transverse two-plane correlation function of the O(4) model for la ttice sizes about L=120 and small external fields h is very well described by a Gaussian approximation. However, we show that fits of not lower quality are provided by certain non-Gaussian approximation. We have also tested larger lattice sizes, up to L=512. The Fourier-transformed transverse and longitudinal two-point correlation functions have Goldstone mode singularities in the thermodynamic limit at k --> 0 and h=+0, i.e., G_perp(k) = a k^{-lambda_perp} and G_parallel(k) = b k^{-lambda_parallel}, respectively. Here a and b are the amplitudes, k is the magnitude of the wave vector. The exponents lambda_perp, lambda_parallel and the ratio b M^2/a^2, where M is the spontaneous magnetization, are universal according to the GFD (grouping of Feynman diagrams) approach. Here we find that the universality follows also from the standard (Gaussian) theory, yielding b M^2/a^2 = (n-1)/16. Our MC estimates of this ratio are 0.06 +/- 0.01 for n=2, 0.17 +/- 0.01 for n=4 and 0.498 +/- 0.010 for n=10. According to these and our earlier MC results, the asymptotic behavior and Goldstone mode singularities are not exactly described by the standard theory. This is expected from the GFD theory. We have found appropriate analytic approximations for G_perp(k) and G_parallel(k), well fitting the simulation data for small k. We have used them to test the Patashinski--Pokrovski relation and have found that it holds approximately.
We develop a general method of computing the contribution of the vertex operators to the semi-classical correlation functions of heavy string states, based on the state-operator correspondence and the integrable structure of the system. Our method re quires only the knowledge of the local behavior of the saddle point configuration around each vertex insertion point and can be applied to cases where the precise forms of the vertex operators are not known. As an important application, we compute the contributions of the vertex operators to the three-point functions of the large spin limit of the Gubser-Klebanov-Polyakov (GKP) strings in $AdS_3$ spacetime, left unevaluated in our previous work [arXiv:1110.3949] which initiated such a study. Combining with the finite part of the action already computed previously and with the newly evaluated divergent part of the action, we obtain finite three-point functions with the expected dependence of the target space boundary coordinates on the dilatation charge and the spin.
We study 2-point and 3-point functions in CFT at finite temperature for large dimension operators using holography. The 2-point function leads to a universal formula for the holographic free energy in $d$ dimensions in terms of the $c$-anomaly coeffi cient. By including $alpha$ corrections to the black brane background, one can reproduce the leading correction at strong coupling. In turn, 3-point functions have a very intricate structure, exhibiting a number of interesting properties. In simple cases, we find an analytic formula, which reduces to the expected expressions in different limits. When the dimensions satisfy $Delta_i= Delta_j+ Delta_k$, the thermal 3-point function satisfies a factorization property. We argue that in $d>2$ factorization is a reflection of the semiclassical regime.
We formulate two-dimensional rational conformal field theory as a natural generalization of two-dimensional lattice topological field theory. To this end we lift various structures from complex vector spaces to modular tensor categories. The central ingredient is a special Frobenius algebra object A in the modular category that encodes the Moore-Seiberg data of the underlying chiral CFT. Just like for lattice TFTs, this algebra is itself not an observable quantity. Rather, Morita equivalent algebras give rise to equivalent theories. Morita equivalence also allows for a simple understanding of T-duality. We present a construction of correlators, based on a triangulation of the world sheet, that generalizes the one in lattice TFTs. These correlators are modular invariant and satisfy factorization rules. The construction works for arbitrary orientable world sheets, in particular for surfaces with boundary. Boundary conditions correspond to representations of the algebra A. The partition functions on the torus and on the annulus provide modular invariants and NIM-reps of the fusion rules, respectively.

We consider the strong coupling limit of 4-point functions of heavy operators in N=4 SYM dual to strings with no spin in AdS. We restrict our discussion for operators inserted on a line. The string computation factorizes into a state-dependent sphere part and a universal AdS contribution which depends only on the dimensions of the operators and the cross ratios. We use the integrability of the AdS string equations to compute the AdS part for operators of arbitrary conformal dimensions. The solution takes the form of TBA-like integral equations with the minimal AdS string-action computed by a corresponding free-energy-like functional. These TBA-like equations stem from a peculiar system of functional equations which we call a chi-system. In principle one could use the same method to solve for the AdS contribution in the N-point function. An interesting feature of the solution is that it encodes multiple string configurations corresponding to different classical saddle-points. The discrete data that parameterizes these solutions enters through the analog of the chemical-potentials in the TBA-like equations. Finally, for operators dual to strings spinning in the same equator in S^5 (i.e. BPS operators of the same type) the sphere part is simple to compute. In this case (which is generically neither extremal nor protected) we can construct the complete, strong-coupling 4-point function.
