We construct exact solitons on noncommutative tori for the type of actions arising from open string field theory. Given any projector that describes an extremum of the tachyon potential, we interpret the remaining gauge degrees of freedom as a gauge theory on the projective module determined by the tachyon. Whenever this module admits a constant curvature connection, it solves exactly the equations of motion of the effective string field theory. We describe in detail such a construction on the noncommutative tori. Whereas our exact solution relies on the coupling to a gauge theory, we comment on the construction of approximate solutions in the absence of gauge fields.

We consider noncommutative theory of a compact scalar field. The recently discovered projector solitons are interpreted as classical vacua in the model considered. Localized solutions to the projector equation are pointed out and their brane interpre tation is discussed. An example of the noncommutative soliton interpolating between such vacua is given. No strong noncommutativity limit is assumed.

Necessary conditions for a soliton on a torus $M=R^m/Lambda$ to be a soliton crystal, that is, a spatially periodic array of topological solitons in stable equilibrium, are derived. The stress tensor of the soliton must be $L^2$ orthogonal to $ee$, t he space of parallel symmetric bilinear forms on $TM$, and, further, a certain symmetric bilinear form on $ee$, called the hessian, must be positive. It is shown that, for baby Skyrme models, the first condition actually implies the second. It is also shown that, for any choice of period lattice $Lambda$, there is a baby Skyrme model which supports a soliton crystal of periodicity $Lambda$. For the three-dimensional Skyrme model, it is shown that any soliton solution on a cubic lattice which satisfies a virial constraint and is equivariant with respect to (a subgroup of) the lattice symmetries automatically satisfies both tests. This verifies in particular that the celebrated Skyrme crystal of Castillejo {it et al.}, and Kugler and Shtrikman, passes both tests.
We continue the study of solitons over noncommutative tori from the perspective of time-frequency analysis and treat the case of a general topological charge. Solutions are associated with vector bundles of higher rank over noncommutative tori. We ex press these vector bundles in terms of vector-valued Gabor frames and apply the duality theory of Gabor analysis to show that Gaussians are solitons of general topological charge over noncommutative tori. An energy functional for projections over noncommutative tori is the basis for the self and anti-self duality equations of the solitons which turns out to have a reformulation in terms of Gabor atoms and we prove that projections generated by Gaussians minimize this energy functional. Finally, we comment on the case of the Moyal plane and the associated continuous vector-valued Gabor frames and show that Gaussians are the only class of solitons.
We study the dimensional aspect of the geometry of quantum spaces. Introducing a physically motivated notion of the scaling dimension, we study in detail the model based on a fuzzy torus. We show that for a natural choice of a deformed Laplace operat or, this model demonstrates quite non-trivial behaviour: the scaling dimension flows from 2 in IR to 1 in UV. Unlike another model with the similar property, the so-called Horava-Lifshitz model, our construction does not have any preferred direction. The dimension flow is rather achieved by a rearrangement of the degrees of freedom. In this respect the number of dimensions is deceptive. Some physical consequences are discussed.
An exact spherically symmetric black hole solution of a recently proposed noncommutative gravity theory based on star products and twists is constructed. This is the first nontrivial exact solution of that theory. The resulting noncommutative black h ole quite naturally exhibits holographic behavior; outside the horizon it has a fuzzy shell-like structure, inside the horizon it has a noncommutative de Sitter geometry. The star product and twist contain Killing vectors and act non-trivially on tensors except the metric, which is central in the algebra. The method used can be applied whenever there are enough spacetime symmetries. This includes noncommutati
