This paper analyzes MIMO systems with multichannel beamforming in Ricean fading. Our results apply to a wide class of multichannel systems which transmit on the eigenmodes of the MIMO channel. We first present new closed-form expressions for the marginal ordered eigenvalue distributions of complex noncentral Wishart matrices. These are used to characterize the statistics of the signal to noise ratio (SNR) on each eigenmode. Based on this, we present exact symbol error rate (SER) expressions. We also derive closed-form expressions for the diversity order, array gain, and outage probability. We show that the global SER performance is dominated by the subchannel corresponding to the minimum channel singular value. We also show that, at low outage levels, the outage probability varies inversely with the Ricean K-factor for cases where transmission is only on the most dominant subchannel (i.e. a singlechannel beamforming system). Numerical results are presented to validate the theoretical analysis.

In this paper, we deal with the performance analysis of full-duplex relaying in decode-&-forward cooperative networks with multiple-antenna terminals. More specifically, by analyzing the end-to-end statistics, we derive the accurate closed-form expre ssions of the end-to-end outage probability for both transmit and receive ZFBF scheme over Rayleigh fading environments. Some selected results show some interesting observations useful for system designers. Specifically, we observe that the outage performance can be improved by adopting the joint ZF-based precoding with different antenna configurations.
We propose the exact calculation of the probability density function (PDF) and cumulative distribution function (CDF) of mutual information (MI) for a two-user MIMO MAC network over block Rayleigh fading channels. So far the PDF and CDF have been num erically evaluated since MI depends on the quotient of two Wishart matrices, and no closed-form for this quotient was available. We derive exact results for the PDF and CDF of extreme (the smallest/the largest) eigenvalues. Based on the results of quotient ensemble the exact calculation for PDF and CDF of mutual information is presented via Laplace transform approach and by direct integration of joint PDF of quotient ensembles eigenvalues. Furthermore, our derivations also provide the parameters to apply the Gaussian approximation method, which is comparatively easier to implement. We show that approximation matches the exact results remarkably well for outage probability, i.e. CDF, above 10%. However, the approximation could also be used for 1% outage probability with a relatively small error. We apply the derived expressions to analyze the effects of adding receiving antennas on the receivers performance. By supposing no channel knowledge at transmitters and successive decoding at receiver, the capacity of the first user increases and outage probability decreases with extra antennas, as expected.
The outage performance of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technique has received intense attention in order to ensure the reliability requirement for mission-critical machine-type communication (cMTC) applications. In this paper, the outage pro bability is asymptotically studied for MIMO channels to thoroughly investigate the transmission reliability. To fully capture the spatial correlation effects, the MIMO fading channel matrix is modelled according to three types of Kronecker correlation structure, i.e., independent, semi-correlated and full-correlated Rayleigh MIMO channels. The outage probabilities under all three Kronecker models are expressed as representations of the weighted sum of the generalized Foxs H functions. The simple analytical results empower the asymptotic outage analyses at high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), which are conducted not only to reveal helpful insights into understanding the behavior of fading effects, but also to offer useful design guideline for MIMO configurations. Particularly, the asymptotic outage probability is proved to be a monotonically increasing and convex function of the transmission rate. In the absence of the channel state information (CSI), the transmitter tends to equally allocate the total transmit power among its antennas to enhance the system reliability especially in high SNR regime. In the end, the analytical results are validated through extensive numerical experiments.

In intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) aided wireless communication systems, channel state information (CSI) is crucial to achieve its promising passive beamforming gains. However, CSI errors are inevitable in practice and generally correlated over the IRS reflecting elements due to the limited training with discrete phase shifts, which degrade the data transmission rate and reliability. In this paper, we focus on investigating the effect of CSI errors to the outage performance in an IRS-aided multiuser downlink communication system. Specifically, we aim to jointly optimize the active transmit precoding vectors at the access point (AP) and passive discrete phase shifts at the IRS to minimize the APs transmit power, subject to the constraints on the maximum CSI-error induced outage probability for the users. First, we consider the single-user case and derive the users outage probability in terms of the mean signal power (MSP) and variance of the received signal at the user. Since there is a trade-off in tuning these two parameters to minimize the outage probability, we propose to maximize their weighted sum with the optimal weight found by one-dimensional search. Then, for the general multiuser case, since the users outage probabilities are difficult to obtain in closed-form due to the inter-user interference, we propose a novel constrained stochastic successive convex approximation (CSSCA) algorithm, which replaces the non-convex outage probability constraints with properly designed convex surrogate approximations. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed robust beamfoming algorithms and show their significant performance improvement over various benchmark schemes.
In this paper, approximate outage probability (OP) expressions are derived for uplink cell-free massive multiple-input-multiple-output (CF-mMIMO) system. The access points (APs) of the system considered have imperfect channel state information (CSI). The approximate expressions are derived first using conditional expectations and then using a novel dimension reduction method that approximates higher-order integration by several single order integrations. Using the same approach, closed-form approximations are also derived for conventional massive MIMO (mMIMO) systems. The OP approximations are then used to characterize the performance of cell-edge users of CF-mMIMO systems and compare the designs of CF-mMIMO and mMIMO systems. The derived expressions have a close match with the simulated expression for OP.
