The fluctuating diamagnetic magnetization Mfl at constant field H as a function of temperature and the isothermal magnetization Mfl vs H are measured in MgB2, above the superconducting transition temperature. The expressions for Mfl in randomly oriented powders are derived in the Gaussian approximation of local Ginzburg-Landau theory and used for the analysis of the data. The scaled magnetization Mfl/H^{1/2}*T is found to be field dependent. In the limit of evanescent field the behaviour for Gaussian fluctuations is obeyed while for H>~ 100 Oe the field tends to suppress the fluctuating pairs, with a field dependence of Mfl close to the one expected when short wavelength fluctuations and non-local electrodynamic effects are taken into account. Our data, besides providing the isothermal magnetization curves for T>Tc(0) in a BCS-type superconductor such as MgB2, evidence an enhancement of the fluctuating diamagnetism which is related to the occurrence in this new superconductor of an anisotropic spectrum of the superconducting fluctuations.

We report on isofield curves of $sqrt{-M}$ vs. T, where M is the reversible magnetization, of YBa_2Cu_3O_{6.95}, YBa_2Cu_3O_{6.65}, and Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_{8+x} with the magnetic field, H, applied parallel to the c-axis of the samples (and also parallel to the ab- planes for YBaCuO). For temperatures close to the critical temperature, T_c, the quantity sqrt{-M} is proportional to the order parameter amplitude |psi|. Curves of sqrt{-M} vs. T allowed to study the asymptotic behavior of the form (T_a-T)^m of |psi| near T_c, as a function of field. Results for the studied samples produced values of T_a(H) lying above T_c, suggesting that the magnetic field gradually allows to probe a region of temperatures where phase correlations persist above T_c. The study performed here in YBaCuO samples allowed to study how phase correlations evolve with doping in the pseudo-gap region of YBaCuO. sqrt{-M} vs. T curves for all samples show a rather large amplitude fluctuation with no phase correlation extending well above T_a(H) which is interpreted in terms of a Gaussian Ginzburg-Landau approach with a {total-energy} cutoff in the fluctuation spectrum. Resulting values for the exponent m found for all samples, 0.5 < m < 0.7, are interpreted as due to phase fluctuations of the d-wave pairing symmetry of the order parameter in the ab- planes.
Large pulsed magnetic fields up to 60 Tesla are used to suppress the contribution of superconducting fluctuations (SCF) to the ab-plane conductivity above Tc in a series of YBa2Cu3O6+x single crystals. The fluctuation conductivity is found to vanish nearly exponentially with temperature, allowing us to determine precisely the field Hc(T) and the temperature Tc above which the SCFs are fully suppressed. Tc is always found much smaller than the pseudogap temperature. A careful investigation near optimal doping shows that Tc is higher than the pseudogap T*, which indicates that the pseudogap cannot be assigned to preformed pairs. For nearly optimally doped samples, the fluctuation conductivity can be accounted for by gaussian fluctuations following the Ginzburg-Landau scheme. A phase fluctuation contribution might be invoked for the most underdoped samples in a T range which increases when controlled disorder is introduced by electron irradiation. Quantitative analysis of the fluctuating magnetoconductance allows us to determine the critical field Hc2(0) which is found to be quite similar to Hc(0) and to increase with hole doping. Studies of the incidence of disorder on both Tc and T* enable us to propose a three dimensional phase diagram including a disorder axis, which allows to explain most observations done in other cuprate families.
Recent nuclear magnetic resonance studies [A. Pustogow {it et al.}, arXiv:1904.00047] have challenged the prevalent chiral triplet pairing scenario proposed for Sr$_2$RuO$_4$. To provide guidance from microscopic theory as to which other pair states might be compatible with the new data, we perform a detailed theoretical study of spin-fluctuation mediated pairing for this compound. We map out the phase diagram as a function of spin-orbit coupling, interaction parameters, and band-structure properties over physically reasonable ranges, comparing when possible with photoemission and inelastic neutron scattering data information. We find that even-parity pseudospin singlet solutions dominate large regions of the phase diagram, but in certain regimes spin-orbit coupling favors a near-nodal odd-parity triplet superconducting state, which is either helical or chiral depending on the proximity of the $gamma$ band to the van Hove points. A surprising near-degeneracy of the nodal $s^prime$- and $d_{x^2-y^2}$-wave solutions leads to the possibility of a near-nodal time-reversal symmetry broken $s^prime+id_{x^2-y^2}$ pair state. Predictions for the temperature dependence of the Knight shift for fields in and out of plane are presented for all states.
We compute the two-particle quantities relevant for superconducting correlations in the two-dimensional Hubbard model within the dynamical cluster approximation. In the normal state we identify the parameter regime in density, interaction, and second -nearest-neighbor hopping strength that maximizes the $d_{x^2-y^2}$ superconducting transition temperature. We find in all cases that the optimal transition temperature occurs at intermediate coupling strength, and is suppressed at strong and weak interaction strengths. Similarly, superconducting fluctuations are strongest at intermediate doping and suppressed towards large doping and half-filling. We find a change in sign of the vertex contributions to $d_{xy}$ superconductivity from repulsive near half filling to attractive at large doping. $p$-wave superconductivity is not found at the parameters we study, and $s$-wave contributions are always repulsive. For negative second-nearest-neighbor hopping the optimal transition temperature shifts towards the electron-doped side in opposition to the van Hove singularity which moves towards hole doping. We surmise that an increase of the local interaction of the electron-doped compounds would increase $T_c$.

Microwave absorption measurements in magnetic fields from zero up to 16 T were used to determine the temperature range of superconducting fluctuations above the superconducting critical temperature T_c in YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-delta}. Measurements were perfo rmed on deeply underdoped, slightly underdoped, and overdoped single crystals. The temperature range of the superconducting fluctuations above T_c is determined by an experimental method which is free from arbitrary assumptions about subtracting the nonsuperconducting contributions to the total measured signal, and/or theoretical models to extract the unknown parameters. The superconducting fluctuations are detected in the ab-plane, and c-axis conductivity, by identifying the onset temperature T. Within the sensitivity of the method, this fluctuation regime is found only within a fairly narrow region above T_c. Its width increases from 7 K in the overdoped sample (T_c = 89 K), to at most 23 K in the deeply underdoped sample (T_c = 57 K), so that T falls well below the pseudogap temperature T*. Implications of these findings are discussed in the context of other experimental probes of superconducting fluctuations in the cuprates.
