We investigate the effects of very strong magnetic fields upon the equation of state of dense bayonic matter in which hyperons are present. In the presence of a magnetic field, the equation of state above nuclear density is significantly affected both by Landau quantization and magnetic moment interactions, but only for field strengths $B>5times10^{18}$ G. The former tends to soften the EOS and increase proton and lepton abundances, while the latter produces an overall stiffening of the EOS. Each results in a supression of hyperons relative to the field-free case. The structure of a neutron star is, however, primarily determined by the magnetic field stress. We utilize existing general relativistic magneto-hydrostatic calculations to demonstrate that maximum average fields within a stable neutron are limited to values $Ble 1-3 times10^{18}$ G. This is not large enough to significantly influence particle compositions or the matter pressure, unless fluctuations dominate the average field strengths in the interior or configurations with significantly larger field gradients are considered.

The masses of the strange mesons ($K$, $K^*$ and $phi$) are investigated in the presence of strong magnetic fields. The changes in the masses of these mesons arise from the mixing of the pseusdoscalar and vector mesons in the presence of a magnetic f ield. For the charged mesons, these mass modifications are in addition to the contributions from the lowest Landau energy levels to their masses. The decay widths, $phi rightarrow Kbar K$ and $K^* rightarrow Kpi$, in the presence of the magnetic field are studied using a field theoretic model of composite hadrons with constituent quarks/antiquarks. The model uses the free Dirac Hamiltonian in terms of the constituent quark fields as the light quark antiquark pair creation term and explicit constructions for the meson states in terms of the constituent quarks and anitiquarks to study the decay processes. The study of the masses and decay widths of the strange mesons in strong magnetic fields can have observable consequences on the production of the open and hidden strange mesons in the peripheral ultra high energy collisions at LHC, where the created magnetic field can be huge.
Simulations are presented of the photoionisation of three dense gas clouds threaded by magnetic fields, showing the dynamical effects of different initial magnetic field orientations and strengths. For moderate magnetic field strengths the initial ra diation-driven implosion phase is not strongly affected by the field geometry, and the photoevaporation flows are also similar. Over longer timescales, the simulation with an initial field parallel to the radiation propagation direction (parallel field) remains basically axisymmetric, whereas in the simulation with a perpendicular initial field the pillar of neutral gas fragments in a direction aligned with the magnetic field. For stronger initial magnetic fields, the dynamics in all gas phases are affected at all evolutionary times. In a simulation with a strong initially perpendicular field, photoevaporated gas forms filaments of dense ionised gas as it flows away from the ionisation front along field lines. These filaments are potentially a useful diagnostic of magnetic field strengths in H II regions because they are very bright in recombination line emission. In the strong parallel field simulation the ionised gas is constrained to flow back towards the radiation source, shielding the dense clouds and weakening the ionisation front, eventually transforming it to a recombination front.
In this work we study the influence of a strong magnetic field on the composition of nuclear matter at T=0 including the anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) of baryons.

The interface effects play important roles for the properties of strange quark matter (SQM) and the related physical processes. We show several examples on the implications of interface effects for both stable and unstable SQM. Based on an equivparti cle model and adopting mean-field approximation (MFA), the surface tension and curvature term of SQM can be obtained, which are increasing monotonically with the density of SQM at zero external pressure. For a parameter set constrained according to the 2$M_odot$ strange star, we find the surface tension is $sim$2.4 MeV/fm${}^2$, while it is larger for other cases.
The large-scale clustering of matter is impacted by baryonic physics, particularly AGN feedback. Modelling or mitigating this impact will be essential for making full use of upcoming measurements of cosmic shear and other large-scale structure probes . We study baryonic effects on the matter bispectrum, using measurements from a selection of state-of-the-art hydrodynamical simulations: IllustrisTNG, Illustris, EAGLE, and BAHAMAS. We identify a low-redshift enhancement of the bispectrum, peaking at $ksim 3h,{rm Mpc}^{-1}$, that is present in several simulations, and discuss how it can be associated to the evolving nature of AGN feedback at late times. This enhancement does not appear in the matter power spectrum, and therefore represents a new source of degeneracy breaking between two- and three-point statistics. In addition, we provide physical interpretations for other aspects of these measurements, and make initial comparisons to predictions from perturbation theory, empirical fitting formulas, and the response function formalism. We publicly release our measurements (including estimates of their uncertainty due to sample variance) and bispectrum measurement code as resources for the community.
