This volume contains the proceedings of the 12th International Symposium on Games, Automata, Logic and Formal Verification (GandALF 2021). The aim of GandALF 2021 symposium is to bring together researchers from academia and industry which are actively working in the fields of Games, Automata, Logics, and Formal Verification. The idea is to cover an ample spectrum of themes, ranging from theory to applications, and stimulate cross-fertilization.

This volume contains the proceedings of the 11th International Symposium on Games, Automata, Logic and Formal Verification (GandALF 2020). The symposium took place as a fully online event on September 21-22, 2020. The GandALF symposium was establishe d by a group of Italian computer scientists interested in mathematical logic, automata theory, game theory, and their applications to the specification, design, and verification of complex systems. Its aim is to provide a forum where people from different areas, and possibly with different backgrounds, can fruitfully interact. GandALF has a truly international spirit, as witnessed by the composition of the program and steering committee and by the country distribution of the submitted papers.

This volume contains papers presented at the Ninth International Symposium on Symbolic Computation in Software Science, SCSS 2021. Symbolic Computation is the science of computing with symbolic objects (terms, formulae, programs, representations of algebraic objects, etc.). Powerful algorithms have been developed during the past decades for the major subareas of symbolic computation: computer algebra and computational logic. These algorithms and methods are successfully applied in various fields, including software science, which covers a broad range of topics about software construction and analysis. Meanwhile, artificial intelligence methods and machine learning algorithms are widely used nowadays in various domains and, in particular, combined with symbolic computation. Several approaches mix artificial intelligence and symbolic methods and tools deployed over large corpora to create what is known as cognitive systems. Cognitive computing focuses on building systems that interact with humans naturally by reasoning, aiming at learning at scale. The purpose of SCSS is to promote research on theoretical and practical aspects of symbolic computation in software science, combined with modern artificial intelligence techniques. These proceedings contain the keynote paper by Bruno Buchberger and ten contributed papers. Besides, the conference program included three invited talks, nine short and work-in-progress papers, and a special session on computer algebra and computational logic. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the symposium was held completely online. It was organized by the Research Institute for Symbolic Computation (RISC) of the Johannes Kepler University Linz on September 8--10, 2021.

We introduce MK-fuzzy automata over a bimonoid K which is related to the fuzzification of the McCarthy-Kleene logic. Our automata are inspired by, and intend to contribute to, practical applications being in development in a project on runtime networ k monitoring based on predicate logic. We investigate closure properties of the class of recognizable MK-fuzzy languages accepted by MK-fuzzy automata as well as of deterministically recognizable MK-fuzzy languages accepted by their deterministic counterparts. Moreover, we establish a Nivat-like result for recognizable MK-fuzzy languages. We introduce an MK-fuzzy MSO logic and show the expressive equivalence of a fragment of this logic with MK-fuzzy automata, i.e., a Buchi type theorem.
WORDS is the main international event in Combinatorics on Words. It is a biannual conference devoted to research of words (i.e., finite or infinite sequences of symbols over a finite alphabet) from combinatorial, algebraic and algorithmic points of v iew. The emphasis of the conference is on mathematical theory of words but the conference is also open to applications, mainly in computer science, biology, linguistics and physics, gaining from the fact that words arise as a natural object in many areas. The eighth edition of the conference was organized in Prague from 12th to 16th September 2011 as a joint undertaking of the Czech Technical University and the Charles University. This volume consists of contributed papers accepted for presentation at the conference and summaries of invited lectures.
