The diffusions and anomalous diffusions of charged particles in the plateau regime of toroidal plasma with a Maxwellian velocity distribution are studied. The transport theory of plasma is discussed under the toroidal coordinate system and the magnetic field is assumed to be axisymmetric. Based on the diffusion flux obtained in the toroidal plasma, we derive the diffusion coefficient tensor and thermal diffusion coefficient tensor, where two angular diffusion coefficients are the anomalous diffusions, depending on the radial position and having nothing to do with the magnetic field. All the radial transport coefficients and the normal angular coefficients are inversely proportional to square of the gyrofrequency and so to square of the magnetic induction. The numerical analyses show clearly dependences of these complex transport coefficients on the temperature, the magnetic fluid stability safe factor and the effective collision frequency, respectively.

By using the generalized Boltzmann equation of transport in nonextensive statistics, we study transport properties of the diffusion flux and the heat flux of charged particles in the weakly ionized plasma with the power-law q-distributions under the magnetic field. We derive the tensor expressions of diffusion coefficient, thermal diffusion coefficient, mobility and thermal conductivity of electrons and ions in the q-distributed plasma under magnetic field. We show that the tensors of the diffusion coefficient, the thermal diffusion coefficient and the thermal conductivity are strongly depend on the q-parameters in nonextensive statistics, and so they are generally not the same as those in the magnetized plasma with a Maxwell distribution.

This work is devoted to almost sure and moment exponential stability of regime-switching jump diffusions. The Lyapunov function method is used to derive sufficient conditions for stabilities for general nonlinear systems; which further helps to deriv e easily verifiable conditions for linear systems. For one-dimensional linear regime-switching jump diffusions, necessary and sufficient conditions for almost sure and $p$th moment exponential stabilities are presented. Several examples are provided for illustration.
This work develops asymptotic properties of a class of switching jump diffusion processes. The processes under consideration may be viewed as a number of jump diffusion processes modulated by a random switching mechanism. The underlying processes fea ture in the switching process depends on the jump diffusions. In this paper, conditions for recurrence and positive recurrence are derived. Ergodicity is examined in detail. Existence of invariant probability measures is proved.

We consider small perturbations of a dynamical system on the one-dimensional torus. We derive sharp estimates for the pre-factor of the stationary state, we examine the asymptotic behavior of the solutions of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation for the pre- factor, we compute the capacities between disjoint sets, and we prove the metastable behavior of the process among the deepest wells following the martingale approach. We also present a bound for the probability that a Markov process hits a set before some fixed time in terms of the capacity of an enlarged process.
A new scheme for accelerating positively charged particles in a plasma wakefield accelerator is proposed. If the proton drive beam propagates in a hollow plasma channel, and the beam radius is of order of the channel width, the space charge force of the driver causes charge separation at the channel wall, which helps to focus the positively charged witness bunch propagating along the beam axis. In the channel, the acceleration buckets for positively charged particles are much larger than in the blowout regime of the uniform plasma, and stable acceleration over long distances is possible. In addition, phasing of the witness with respect to the wave can be tuned by changing the radius of the channel to ensure the acceleration is optimal. Two dimensional simulations suggest that, for proton drivers likely available in future, positively charged particles can be stably accelerated over 1 km with the average acceleration gradient of 1.3 GeV/m.
