Here we present the University of California San Francisco Preoperative Diffuse Glioma MRI (UCSF-PDGM) dataset. The UCSF-PDGM dataset includes 500 subjects with histopathologically-proven diffuse gliomas who were imaged with a standardized 3 Tesla preoperative brain tumor MRI protocol featuring predominantly 3D imaging, as well as advanced diffusion and perfusion imaging techniques. The dataset also includes isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutation status for all cases and O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) promotor methylation status for World Health Organization (WHO) grade III and IV gliomas. The UCSF-PDGM has been made publicly available in the hopes that researchers around the world will use these data to continue to push the boundaries of AI applications for diffuse gliomas.

Polarimetric SAR data has the characteristics of all-weather, all-time and so on, which is widely used in many fields. However, the data of annotation is relatively small, which is not conducive to our research. In this paper, we have collected five open polarimetric SAR images, which are images of the San Francisco area. These five images come from different satellites at different times, which has great scientific research value. We annotate the collected images at the pixel level for image classification and segmentation. For the convenience of researchers, the annotated data is open source https://github.com/liuxuvip/PolSF.

In 2020, California required San Francisco to consider equity in access to resources such as housing, transportation, and emergency services as it re-opened its economy post-pandemic. Using a public dataset maintained by the San Francisco Fire Depart ment of every call received related to emergency response from January 2003 to April 2021, we calculated the response times and distances to the closest of 48 fire stations and 14 local emergency rooms. We used logistic regression to determine the probability of meeting the averages of response time, distance from a fire station, and distance to an emergency room based on the median income bracket of a ZIP code based on IRS statement of income data. ZIP codes in the lowest bracket ($25,000-$50,000 annually) consistently had the lowest probability of meeting average response metrics. This was most notable for distances to emergency rooms, where calls from ZIP codes in the lowest income bracket had an 11.5% chance of being within the citys average distance (1 mile) of an emergency room, while the next lowest probability (for the income bracket of $100,000-$200,000 annually) was 75.9%. As San Francisco considers equity as a part of Californias Blueprint for a Safer Economy, it should evaluate the distribution of access to emergency services. The emergence of Internet of Things (IoT) applications requires intelligence on the edge. Microcontrollers provide a low-cost compute platform to deploy intelligent IoT applications using machine learning at scale, but have extremely limited on-chip memory and compute capability. To deploy computer vision on such devices, we need tiny vision models that fit within a few hundred kilobytes of memory footprint in terms of peak usage and model size on device storage. To facilitate the development of microcontroller friendly models, we present a new dataset, Visual Wake Words, that represents a common microcontroller vision use-case of identifying whether a person is present in the image or not, and provides a realistic benchmark for tiny vision models. Within a limited memory footprint of 250 KB, several state-of-the-art mobile models achieve accuracy of 85-90% on the Visual Wake Words dataset. We anticipate the proposed dataset will advance the research on tiny vision models that can push the pareto-optimal boundary in terms of accuracy versus memory usage for microcontroller applications.
The integrity of articular cartilage is a crucial aspect in the early diagnosis of osteoarthritis (OA). Many novel MRI techniques have the potential to assess compositional changes of the cartilage extracellular matrix. Among these techniques, diffus ion tensor imaging (DTI) of cartilage provides a simultaneous assessment of the two principal components of the solid matrix: collagen structure and proteoglycan concentration. DTI, as for any other compositional MRI technique, require a human expert to perform segmentation manually. The manual segmentation is error-prone and time-consuming ($sim$ few hours per subject). We use an ensemble of modified U-Nets to automate this segmentation task. We benchmark our model against a human expert test-retest segmentation and conclude that our model is superior for Patellar and Tibial cartilage using dice score as the comparison metric. In the end, we do a perturbation analysis to understand the sensitivity of our model to the different components of our input. We also provide confidence maps for the predictions so that radiologists can tweak the model predictions as required. The model has been deployed in practice. In conclusion, cartilage segmentation on DW-MRI images with modified U-Nets achieves accuracy that outperforms the human segmenter. This paper introduces a new benchmarking dataset for marine snow removal of underwater images. Marine snow is one of the main degradation sources of underwater images that are caused by small particles, e.g., organic matter and sand, between the unde rwater scene and photosensors. We mathematically model two typical types of marine snow from the observations of real underwater images. The modeled artifacts are synthesized with underwater images to construct large-scale pairs of ground-truth and degraded images to calculate objective qualities for marine snow removal and to train a deep neural network. We propose two marine snow removal tasks using the dataset and show the first benchmarking results of marine snow removal. The Marine Snow Removal Benchmarking Dataset is publicly available online.
