The intention of this research is to study and design an automated agriculture commodity price prediction system with novel machine learning techniques. Due to the increasing large amounts historical data of agricultural commodity prices and the need of performing accurate prediction of price fluctuations, the solution has largely shifted from statistical methods to machine learning area. However, the selection of proper set from historical data for forecasting still has limited consideration. On the other hand, when implementing machine learning techniques, finding a suitable model with optimal parameters for global solution, nonlinearity and avoiding curse of dimensionality are still biggest challenges, therefore machine learning strategies study are needed. In this research, we propose a web-based automated system to predict agriculture commodity price. In the two series experiments, five popular machine learning algorithms, ARIMA, SVR, Prophet, XGBoost and LSTM have been compared with large historical datasets in Malaysia and the most optimal algorithm, LSTM model with an average of 0.304 mean-square error has been selected as the prediction engine of the proposed system.

Automated machine learning (AutoML) aims to find optimal machine learning solutions automatically given a machine learning problem. It could release the burden of data scientists from the multifarious manual tuning process and enable the access of do main experts to the off-the-shelf machine learning solutions without extensive experience. In this paper, we review the current developments of AutoML in terms of three categories, automated feature engineering (AutoFE), automated model and hyperparameter learning (AutoMHL), and automated deep learning (AutoDL). State-of-the-art techniques adopted in the three categories are presented, including Bayesian optimization, reinforcement learning, evolutionary algorithm, and gradient-based approaches. We summarize popular AutoML frameworks and conclude with current open challenges of AutoML.
Outlier detection is an important task for various data mining applications. Current outlier detection techniques are often manually designed for specific domains, requiring large human efforts of database setup, algorithm selection, and hyper-parame ter tuning. To fill this gap, we present PyODDS, an automated end-to-end Python system for Outlier Detection with Database Support, which automatically optimizes an outlier detection pipeline for a new data source at hand. Specifically, we define the search space in the outlier detection pipeline, and produce a search strategy within the given search space. PyODDS enables end-to-end executions based on an Apache Spark backend server and a light-weight database. It also provides unified interfaces and visualizations for users with or without data science or machine learning background. In particular, we demonstrate PyODDS on several real-world datasets, with quantification analysis and visualization results.
To predict a critical transition due to parameter drift without relying on model is an outstanding problem in nonlinear dynamics and applied fields. A closely related problem is to predict whether the system is already in or if the system will be in a transient state preceding its collapse. We develop a model free, machine learning based solution to both problems by exploiting reservoir computing to incorporate a parameter input channel. We demonstrate that, when the machine is trained in the normal functioning regime with a chaotic attractor (i.e., before the critical transition), the transition point can be predicted accurately. Remarkably, for a parameter drift through the critical point, the machine with the input parameter channel is able to predict not only that the system will be in a transient state, but also the average transient time before the final collapse.
Automated machine learning makes it easier for data scientists to develop pipelines by searching over possible choices for hyperparameters, algorithms, and even pipeline topologies. Unfortunately, the syntax for automated machine learning tools is in consistent with manual machine learning, with each other, and with error checks. Furthermore, few tools support advanced features such as topology search or higher-order operators. This paper introduces Lale, a library of high-level Python interfaces that simplifies and unifies automated machine learning in a consistent way.
As biological gender is one of the aspects of presenting individual human, much work has been done on gender classification based on people names. The proposals for English and Chinese languages are tremendous; still, there have been few works done f or Vietnamese so far. We propose a new dataset for gender prediction based on Vietnamese names. This dataset comprises over 26,000 full names annotated with genders. This dataset is available on our website for research purposes. In addition, this paper describes six machine learning algorithms (Support Vector Machine, Multinomial Naive Bayes, Bernoulli Naive Bayes, Decision Tree, Random Forrest and Logistic Regression) and a deep learning model (LSTM) with fastText word embedding for gender prediction on Vietnamese names. We create a dataset and investigate the impact of each name component on detecting gender. As a result, the best F1-score that we have achieved is up to 96% on LSTM model and we generate a web API based on our trained model.
