We use conformal supergravity techniques to study four-derivative corrections in four-dimensional gauged supergravity. We show that the four-derivative Lagrangian for the propagating degrees of freedom of the $mathcal{N}=2$ gravity multiplet is determined by two real dimensionless constants. We demonstrate that all solutions of the two-derivative equations of motion in the supergravity theory also solve the four-derivative equations of motion. These results are then applied to explicitly calculate the regularized on-shell action for any asymptotically locally AdS$_4$ solution of the two-derivative equations of motion. The four-derivative terms in the supergravity Lagrangian modify the entropy and other thermodynamic observables for the black hole solutions of the theory. We calculate these corrections explicitly and demonstrate that the quantum statistical relation holds for general stationary black holes in the presence of the four-derivative corrections. Employing an embedding of this supergravity model in M-theory we show how to use supersymmetric localization results in the holographically dual three-dimensional SCFT to determine the unknown coefficients in the four-derivative supergravity action. This in turn leads to new detailed results for the first subleading $N^{frac{1}{2}}$ correction to the large $N$ partition function of a class of three-dimensional SCFTs on compact Euclidean manifolds. In addition, we calculate explicitly the first subleading correction to the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of asymptotically AdS$_4$ black holes in M-theory. We also discuss how to add matter multiplets to the supergravity theory in the presence of four-derivative terms and to generalize some of these results to six- and higher-derivative supergravity.

An action for the higher-derivative corrections to minimal gauged supergravity in four dimensions has been recently proposed. We demonstrate that the supersymmetric solutions of this model are those of the two-derivative action, and investigate some of their properties. In particular, we prove a formula for the renormalised on-shell action in terms of contributions from fixed points of a $U(1)$ action, and confirm that it is invariant under deformations which preserve the boundary almost contact structure.
We study four-derivative corrections to four-dimensional $mathcal{N}=2$ minimal gauged supergravity and show that they are controlled by two real constants. The solutions of the equations of motion in the two-derivative theory are not modified by the higher-derivative corrections. We use this to derive a general formula for the regularized on-shell action for any asymptotically locally AdS$_4$ solution of the theory and show how the higher-derivative corrections affect black hole thermodynamic quantities in a universal way. We employ our results in the context of holography to derive explicit expressions for the subleading corrections in the large $N$ expansion of supersymmetric partition functions on various compact manifolds for a large class of three-dimensional SCFTs.
We find new asymptotically locally AdS$_4$ Euclidean supersymmetric solutions of the STU model in four-dimensional gauged supergravity. These black saddles have an $S^1times Sigma_{mathfrak{g}}$ boundary at asymptotic infinity and cap off smoothly in the interior. The solutions can be uplifted to eleven dimensions and are holographically dual to the topologically twisted ABJM theory on $S^1times Sigma_{mathfrak{g}}$. We show explicitly that the on-shell action of the black saddle solutions agrees exactly with the topologically twisted index of the ABJM theory in the planar limit for general values of the magnetic fluxes, flavor fugacities, and real masses. This agreement relies on a careful holographic renormalization analysis combined with a novel UV/IR holographic relation between supergravity parameters and field theory sources. The Euclidean black saddle solution space contains special points that can be Wick-rotated to regular Lorentzian supergravity backgrounds that correspond to the well-known supersymmetric dyonic AdS$_4$ black holes in the STU model.
We present new analytic rotating AdS$_4$ black holes, found as solutions of 4d gauged $mathcal{N}=2$ supergravity coupled to abelian vector multiplets with a symmetric scalar manifold. These configurations preserve two real supercharges and have a sm ooth limit to the BPS Kerr-Newman-AdS$_4$ black hole. We spell out the solution of the $STU$ model admitting an uplift to M-theory on S$^7$. We identify an entropy function, which upon extremization gives the black hole entropy, to be holographically reproduced by the leading $N$ contribution of the generalized superconformal index of the dual theory.
We study static black hole solutions with locally spherical horizons coupled to non-Abelian field in $mathcal{N}=4$ Chern-Simons AdS$_5$ supergravity. They are governed by three parameters associated to the mass, axial torsion and amplitude of the in ternal soliton, and two ones to the gravitational hair. They describe geometries that can be a global AdS space, naked singularity or a (non-)extremal black hole. We analyze physical properties of two inequivalent asymptotically AdS solutions when the spatial section at radial infinity is either a 3-sphere or a projective 3-space. An important feature of these 3-parametric solutions is that they possess a topological structure including two $SU(2)$ solitons that wind nontrivially around the black hole horizon, as characterized by the Pontryagin index. In the extremal black hole limit, the solitons strengths match and a soliton-antisoliton system unwinds. That limit admits both non-BPS and BPS configurations. For the latter, the pure gauge and non-pure gauge solutions preserve $1/2$ and $1/16$ of the original supersymmetries, respectively. In a general case, we compute conserved charges in Hamiltonian formalism, finding many similarities with standard supergravity black holes.
