We report far-field approximations to the derivatives and integrals of the Greens function for the Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings equation in the frequency domain. The approximations are based on the far-field asymptotic of the Greens function. The details of the derivations of the proposed formulations are provided.

An exact representation of the causal QED fermion Greens function, in an arbritrary external electromagnetic field, derived by Fried, Gabellini and McKellar, and which naturally allows for non-perturbative approximations, is here used to calculate no n-perturbative approximations to the Greens function in the simple case of a constant external field. Schwingers famous exact result is obtained as the limit as the order of the approximation approaches infinity.
The Wagner function in classical unsteady aerodynamic theory represents the response in lift on an airfoil that is subject to a sudden change in conditions. While it plays a fundamental role in the development and application of unsteady aerodynamic methods, explicit expressions for this function are difficult to obtain. The Wagner function requires computation of an inverse Laplace transform, or similar inversion, of a non-rational function in the Laplace domain, which is closely related to the Theodorsen function. This has led to numerous proposed approximations to the Wagner function, which facilitate convenient and rapid computations. While these approximations can be sufficient for many purposes, their behavior is often noticeably different from the true Wagner function, especially for long-time asymptotic behavior. In particular, while many approximations have small maximum absolute error across all times, the relative error of the asymptotic behavior can be substantial. As well as documenting this error, we propose an alternative approximation methodology that is accurate for all times, for a variety of accuracy measures. This methodology casts the Wagner function as the solution of a nonlinear scalar ordinary differential equation, which is identified using a variant of the sparse identification of nonlinear dynamics (SINDy) algorithm. We show that this approach can give accurate approximations using either first- or second-order differential equations. We additionally show that this method can be applied to model the analogous lift response for a more realistic aerodynamic system, featuring a finite thickness airfoil and a nonplanar wake.
We consider random elliptic equations in dimension $dgeq 3$ at small ellipticity contrast. We derive the large-distance asymptotic expansion of the annealed Greens function up to order $4$ in $d=3$ and up to order $d+2$ for $dgeq 4$. We also derive a symptotic expansions of its derivatives. The obtained precision lies far beyond what is established in prior results in stochastic homogenization theory. Our proof builds on a recent breakthrough in perturbative stochastic homogenization by Bourgain in a refined version shown by Kim and the second author, and on Fourier-analytic techniques of Uchiyama.

We present a derivation of the Gribov equation for the gluon/photon Greens function D(q). Our derivation is based on the second derivative of the gauge-invariant quantity Tr ln D(q), which we interpret as the gauge-boson `self-loop. By considering th e higher-order corrections to this quantity, we are able to obtain a Gribov equation which sums the logarithmically enhanced corrections. By solving this equation, we obtain the non-perturbative running coupling in both QCD and QED. In the case of QCD, alpha_S has a singularity in the space-like region corresponding to super-criticality, which is argued to be resolved in Gribovs light-quark confinement scenario. For the QED coupling in the UV limit, we obtain a propto Q^2 behaviour for space-like Q^2=-q^2. This implies the decoupling of the photon and an NJLVL-type effective theory in the UV limit.
The proliferation of turbulence in subcritical wall-bounded shear flows involves spatially localised coherent structures. Turbulent spots correspond to finite-time nonlinear responses to pointwise disturbances and are regarded as seeds of turbulence during transition. The rapid spatial decay of the turbulent fluctuations away from a spot is accompanied by large-scale flows with a robust structuration. The far field velocity field of these spots is investigated numerically using spectral methods in large domains in four different flow scenarios (plane Couette, plane Poiseuille, Couette-Poiseuille and a sinusoidal shear flow). At odds with former expectations, the planar components of the velocity field decay algebraically. These decay exponents depend only on the symmetries of the system, which here depend on the presence of an applied gradient, and not on the Reynolds number. This suggests an effective two-dimensional multipolar expansion for the far field, dominated by a quadrupolar flow component or, for asymmetric flow fields, by a dipolar flow component.
