We use the quantum null energy condition in strongly coupled two-dimensional field theories (QNEC2) as diagnostic tool to study a variety of phase structures, including crossover, second and first order phase transitions. We find a universal QNEC2 constraint for first order phase transitions with kinked entanglement entropy and discuss in general the relation between the QNEC2-inequality and monotonicity of the Casini-Huerta c-function. We then focus on a specific example, the holographic dual of which is modelled by three-dimensional Einstein gravity plus a massive scalar field with one free parameter in the self-interaction potential. We study translation invariant stationary states dual to domain walls and black branes. Depending on the value of the free parameter we find crossover, second and first order phase transitions between such states, and the c-function either flows to zero or to a finite value in the infrared. Strikingly, evaluating QNEC2 for ground state solutions allows to predict the existence of phase transitions at finite temperature.

Dynamics in AdS spacetimes is characterized by various time-periodicities. The most obvious of these is the time-periodic evolution of linearized fields, whose normal frequencies form integer-spaced ladders as a direct consequence of the structure of representations of the conformal group. There are also explicitly known time-periodic phenomena on much longer time scales inversely proportional to the coupling in the weakly nonlinear regime. We ask what would correspond to these long time periodicities in a holographic CFT, provided that such a CFT reproducing the AdS bulk dynamics in the large central charge limit has been found. The answer is a very large family of multiparticle operators whose conformal dimensions form simple ladders with spacing inversely proportional to the central charge. We give an explicit demonstration of these ideas in the context of a toy model holography involving a $phi^4$ probe scalar field in AdS, but we expect the applicability of the underlying structure to be much more general.
We use AdS/CFT to construct the gravitational dual of a 5D CFT in the background of a non-extremal rotating black hole. Our boundary conditions are such that the vacuum state of the dual CFT corresponds to the Unruh state. We extract the expectation value of the stress tensor of the dual CFT using holographic renormalisation and show that it is stationary and regular on both the future and the past event horizons. The energy density of the CFT is found to be negative everywhere in our domain and we argue that this can be understood as a vacuum polarisation effect. We construct the solutions by numerically solving the elliptic Einstein--DeTurck equation for stationary Lorentzian spacetimes with Killing horizons.
We study $Tbar T$ deformations of 2d CFTs with periodic boundary conditions. We relate these systems to string models on $mathbb{R}times {S}^1times{cal M}$, where $cal M$ is the target space of a 2d CFT. The string model in the light cone gauge is id entified with the corresponding 2d CFT and in the static gauge it reproduces its $Tbar T$ deformed system. This relates the deformed system and the initial one by a worldsheet coordinate transformation, which becomes a time dependent canonical map in the Hamiltonian treatment. The deformed Hamiltonian defines the string energy and we express it in terms of the chiral Hamiltonians of the initial 2d CFT. This allows exact quantization of the deformed system, if the spectrum of the initial 2d CFT is known. The generalization to non-conformal 2d field theories is also discussed.
We present a constructive derivation of holographic four-point correlators of arbitrary half-BPS operators for all maximally supersymmetric conformal field theories in $d>2$. This includes holographic correlators in 3d ${cal N}=8$ ABJM theories, 4d $ {cal N}=4$ SYM theory and the 6d ${cal N}=(2,0)$ theory, dual to tree-level amplitudes in 11D supergravity on $AdS_4 times S^7$, 10D supergravity on $AdS_5 times S^5$ and 11D supergravity on $AdS_7 times S^4$, respectively. We introduce the concept of Maximally R-symmetry Violating (MRV) amplitude, which corresponds to a special configuration in the R-symmetry space. In this limit the amplitude drastically simplifies, but at the same time the entire polar part of the full amplitude can be recovered from this limit. Furthermore, for a specific choice of the polar part, contact terms can be shown to be absent, by using the superconformal Ward identities and the flat space limit.
We present the quantum $kappa$-deformation of BMS symmetry, by generalizing the lightlike $kappa$-Poincare Hopf algebra. On the technical level, our analysis relies on the fact that the lightlike $kappa$-deformation of Poincare algebra is given by a twist and the lightlike deformation of any algebra containing Poincare as a subalgebra can be done with the help of the same twisting element. We briefly comment on the physical relevance of the obtained $kappa$-BMS Hopf algebra as a possible asymptotic symmetry of quantum gravity.
