For the skyrmion-hosting intermetallic Gd$_2$PdSi$_3$ with centrosymmetric hexagonal lattice and triangular net of rare earth sites, we report a thorough investigation of the magnetic phase diagram. Our work reveals a new magnetic phase with isotropic value of the critical field for all orientations, where the magnetic ordering vector $mathbf{q}$ is depinned from its preferred directions in the basal plane. This is in contrast to the highly anisotropic behavior of the low field phases, such as the skyrmion lattice (SkL), which are easily destroyed by in-plane magnetic field. The bulk nature of the SkL and of other magnetic phases was evidenced by specific-heat measurements. Resistivity anisotropy, likely originating from partial gapping of the density of states along $mathbf{q}$ in this RKKY magnet, is picked up via the planar Hall effect (PHE). The PHE confirms the single-$mathbf{q}$ nature of the magnetic order when the field is in the hexagonal plane, and allows to detect the preferred directions of $mathbf{q}$. For field aligned perpendicular to the basal plane, several scenarios for the depinned phase (DP), such as tilted conical order, are discussed on the basis of the data.

We report detailed magneto-transport measurements on single crystals of the magnetic Weyl semi-metal Co$_{3}$Sn$_{2}$S$_{2}$. Recently a large anomalous Hall effect and chiral anomaly have been observed in this material which have been suggested to b e related to the large Berry curvature between the Weyl points (Liu et al., Nature Physics (2018).). Another effect expected to result from the topological band structure of magnetic Weyl materials is the planar Hall effect (PHE). In this work we report observation of this intrinsic effect in single crystals of Co$_{3}$Sn$_{2}$S$_{2}$. Crucially, the PHE is observed for temperature $T leq 74$~K which is much smaller than the ferromagnetic ordering temperature $T_c = 175$~K@. Together with the large anomalous Hall conductivity, this further demonstrates the Topological character of Co$_3$Sn$_2$S$_2$.

We report a long-wavelength helimagnetic superstructure in bulk samples of the ferrimagnetic insulator Cu2OSeO3. The magnetic phase diagram associated with the helimagnetic modulation inferred from small angle neutron scattering and magnetisation mea surements includes a skyrmion lattice phase and is strongly reminiscent of MnSi, FeGe and Fe1-xCoxSi, i.e., binary isostructural siblings of Cu2OSeO3 that order helimagnetically. The temperature dependence of the specific heat of Cu2OSeO3 is characteristic of nearly critical spin fluctuations at the helimagnetic transition. This provides putative evidence for effective spin currents as the origin of enhancements of the magneto-dielectric response instead of atomic displacements considered so far.
Electrical resistivity ($rho$), magnetoresistance (MR), magnetization, thermopower and Hall effect measurements on the single crystal Gd$_{2}$PdSi$_3$, crystallizing in an AlB$_2$-derived hexagonal structure are reported. The well-defined minimum in $rho$ at a temperature above Neel temperature (T$_N$= 21 K) and large negative MR below $sim$ 3T$_N$, reported earlier for the polycrystals, are reproducible even in single crystals. Such features are generally uncharacteristic of Gd alloys. In addition, we also found interesting features in other data, e.g., two-step first-order-like metamagnetic transitions for the magnetic field along [0001] direction. The alloy exhibits anisotropy in all these properties, though Gd is a S-state ion.
The influence of a staggered molecular field in frustrated rare-earth pyrochlores, produced via the magnetic iridium occupying the transition metal site, can generate exotic ground states, such as the fragmentation of the magnetization in the Ho comp ound. At variance with the Ising Ho$^{3+}$ moment, we focus on the behavior of the quasi isotropic magnetic moment of the Gd$^{3+}$ ion at the rare-earth site. By means of macroscopic measurements and neutron scattering, we find a complex situation where different components of the magnetic moment contribute to two antiferromagnetic non-collinear arrangements: a high temperature all in - all out order induced by the Ir molecular field, and Palmer and Chalker correlations that tend to order at much lower temperatures. This is enabled by the anisotropic nature of the Gd-Gd interactions and requires a weak easy-plane anisotropy of the Gd$^{3+}$ moment due to the mixing of the ground state with multiplets of higher spectral terms.
The confinement of the two dimensional electron gas (2DEG), preferential occupancy of the Ti 3d orbital and strong spin-orbit coupling at the LaAlO$_3$/SrTiO$_3$ interface play a significant role in its emerging properties. Here we report a fourfold oscillation in the anisotropic magneto resistance (AMR) and the observation of planar Hall effect (PHE) at the LaAlO$_3$/SrTiO$_3$ heterointerface. We evaluate the carrier confinement effects on the AMR and find that the fourfold oscillation appears only for the case of 2DEG system while it is twofold for the 3D system. As the fourfold oscillation fits well to the phenomenological model for a cubic symmetry system, we attribute this oscillation to the anisotropy in the magnetic scattering arising from the interaction of electrons with the localized magnetic moments coupled to the crystal symmetry. The AMR behavior is further found to be sensitive to applied gate electric field, emphasizing the significance of spin-orbit coupling at the interface. These confinement effects suggest that the magnetic interactions are predominant at the interface, and the gate electric field modulation of AMR suggest the possible gate tunable magnetic interactions in these systems. The observed large PHE further indicates that the in plane nature of magnetic ordering arises from the in-plane Ti 3dxy orbitals.
