We prove unique continuation properties of solutions to a large class of nonlinear, non-local dispersive equations. The goal is to show that if $u_1,,u_2$ are two suitable solutions of the equation defined in $mathbb R^ntimes[0,T]$ such that for some non-empty open set $Omegasubset mathbb R^ntimes[0,T]$, $u_1(x,t)=u_2(x,t)$ for $(x,t) in Omega$, then $u_1(x,t)=u_2(x,t)$ for any $(x,t)inmathbb R^ntimes[0,T]$. The proof is based on static arguments. More precisely, the main ingredient in the proofs will be the unique continuation properties for fractional powers of the Laplacian established by Ghosh, Salo and Ulhmann in cite{GhSaUh}, and some extensions obtained here.

This paper concerns about the weak unique continuation property of solutions of a general system of differential equation/inequality with a second order strongly elliptic system as its leading part. We put not only some natural assumption which calle d {sl basic assumptions}, but also some technical assumptions which we called {sl further assumptions}. It is shown as usual by first applying the Holmgren transform to this inequality and then establishing a Carleman estimate for the leading part of the transformed inequality. The Carleman estimate given via a partition of unity and Carleman estimate for the operator with constant coefficients obtained by freezing the coefficients of the transformed leading part at a point. A little more details about this are as follows. Factorize this operator with constant coefficients into two first order differential operators. Conjugate each factor by a Carleman weight and derive an estimate which is uniform with respect to the point at which we froze the coefficients for each conjugated factor by constructing a parametrix for its adjoint operator.
We consider a large family of integro-differential equations and establish a non-local counterpart of Hopfs lemma, directly expressed in terms of the symbol of the operator. As closely related problems, we also obtain a variety of maximum principles for viscosity solutions. In our approach we combine direct analysis with functional integration, allowing a robust control around the boundary of the domain, and make use of the related ascending ladder height-processes. We then apply these results to a study of principal eigenvalue problems, the radial symmetry of the positive solutions, and the overdetermined non-local torsion equation.
The purpose of this article is to establish bounds from below for the life span of regular solutions to the incompressible Navier-Stokes system, whichinvolve norms not only of the initial data, but also of nonlinear functions of the initial data. We provide examples showing that those bounds are significant improvements to the one provided by the classical fixed point argument. One of the important ingredients is the use of a scale-invariant energy estimate.
It is shown that a strong solution of the Camassa-Holm equation, initially decaying exponentially together with its spacial derivative, must be identically equal to zero if it also decays exponentially at a later time. In particular, a strong solutio n of the Cauchy problem with compact initial profile can not be compactly supported at any later time unless it is the zero solution.
We provide sufficient conditions on the coefficients of a stochastic evolution equation on a Hilbert space of functions driven by a cylindrical Wiener process ensuring that its mild solution is positive if the initial datum is positive. As an applica tion, we discuss the positivity of forward rates in the Heath-Jarrow-Morton model via Musielas stochastic PDE.
