The concept of extended Hamiltonian systems allows the geometrical interpretation of several integrable and superintegrable systems with polynomial first integrals of degree depending on a rational parameter. Until now, the procedure of extension has been applied only in the case of natural Hamiltonians. In this article, we give several examples of application to non-natural Hamiltonians, such as the two point-vortices, the Lotka-Volterra and some quartic in the momenta Hamiltonians, obtaining effectively extended Hamiltonians in some cases and failing in others. We briefly discuss the reasons of these results.

A procedure to extend a superintegrable system into a new superintegrable one is systematically tested for the known systems on $mathbb E^2$ and $mathbb S^2$ and for a family of systems defined on constant curvature manifolds. The procedure results e ffective in many cases including Tremblay-Turbiner-Winternitz and three-particle Calogero systems.

Given an n-dimensional natural Hamiltonian L on a Riemannian or pseudo-Riemannian manifold, we call extension of L the n+1 dimensional Hamiltonian $H=frac 12 p_u^2+alpha(u)L+beta(u)$ with new canonically conjugated coordinates $(u,p_u)$. For suitable L, the functions $alpha$ and $beta$ can be chosen depending on any natural number m such that H admits an extra polynomial first integral in the momenta of degree m, explicitly determined in the form of the m-th power of a differential operator applied to a certain function of coordinates and momenta. In particular, if L is maximally superintegrable (MS) then H is MS also. Therefore, the extension procedure allows the creation of new superintegrable systems from old ones. For m=2, the extra first integral generated by the extension procedure determines a second-order symmetry operator of a Laplace-Beltrami quantization of H, modified by taking in account the curvature of the configuration manifold. The extension procedure can be applied to several Hamiltonian systems, including the three-body Calogero and Wolfes systems (without harmonic term), the Tremblay-Turbiner-Winternitz system and n-dimensional anisotropic harmonic oscillators. We propose here a short review of the known results of the theory and some previews of new ones.
We consider the Landau Hamiltonian $H_0$, self-adjoint in $L^2({mathbb R^2})$, whose spectrum consists of an arithmetic progression of infinitely degenerate positive eigenvalues $Lambda_q$, $q in {mathbb Z}_+$. We perturb $H_0$ by a non-local potenti al written as a bounded pseudo-differential operator ${rm Op}^{rm w}({mathcal V})$ with real-valued Weyl symbol ${mathcal V}$, such that ${rm Op}^{rm w}({mathcal V}) H_0^{-1}$ is compact. We study the spectral properties of the perturbed operator $H_{{mathcal V}} = H_0 + {rm Op}^{rm w}({mathcal V})$. First, we construct symbols ${mathcal V}$, possessing a suitable symmetry, such that the operator $H_{mathcal V}$ admits an explicit eigenbasis in $L^2({mathbb R^2})$, and calculate the corresponding eigenvalues. Moreover, for ${mathcal V}$ which are not supposed to have this symmetry, we study the asymptotic distribution of the eigenvalues of $H_{mathcal V}$ adjoining any given $Lambda_q$. We find that the effective Hamiltonian in this context is the Toeplitz operator ${mathcal T}_q({mathcal V}) = p_q {rm Op}^{rm w}({mathcal V}) p_q$, where $p_q$ is the orthogonal projection onto ${rm Ker}(H_0 - Lambda_q I)$, and investigate its spectral asymptotics.
A novel family of exactly solvable quantum systems on curved space is presented. The family is the quantum version of the classical Perlick family, which comprises all maximally superintegrable 3-dimensional Hamiltonian systems with spherical symmetr y. The high number of symmetries (both geometrical and dynamical) exhibited by the classical systems has a counterpart in the accidental degeneracy in the spectrum of the quantum systems. This family of quantum problem is completely solved with the techniques of the SUSYQM (supersymmetric quantum mechanics). We also analyze in detail the ordering problem arising in the quantization of the kinetic term of the classical Hamiltonian, stressing the link existing between two physically meaningful quantizations: the geometrical quantization and the position dependent mass quantization.

In this work we elaborate on a previous result relating the partition function of the six-vertex model with domain-wall boundary conditions to eigenvalues of a transfer matrix. More precisely, we express the aforementioned partition function as a det erminant of a matrix with entries being eigenvalues of the anti-periodic six-vertex models transfer matrix.
