In this work, we review two methods used to approach singular Hamiltonians in (2+1) dimensions. Both methods are based on the self-adjoint extension approach. It is very common to find singular Hamiltonians in quantum mechanics, especially in quantum systems in the presence of topological defects, which are usually modelled by point interactions. In general, it is possible to apply some kind of regularization procedure, as the vanishing of the wave function at the location of the singularity, ensuring that the wave function is square-integrable and then can be associated with a physical state. However, a study based on the self-adjoint extension approach can lead to more general boundary conditions that still gives acceptable physical states. We exemplify the methods by exploring the bound and scattering scenarios of a spin 1/2 charged particle with an anomalous magnetic moment in the Aharonov-Bohm potential in the conical space.

A well known tool in conventional (von Neumann) quantum mechanics is the self-adjoint extension technique for symmetric operators. It is used, e.g., for the construction of Dirac-Hermitian Hamiltonians with point-interaction potentials. Here we resha pe this technique to allow for the construction of pseudo-Hermitian ($J$-self-adjoint) Hamiltonians with complex point-interactions. We demonstrate that the resulting Hamiltonians are bijectively related with so called hypermaximal neutral subspaces of the defect Krein space of the symmetric operator. This symmetric operator is allowed to have arbitrary but equal deficiency indices $<n,n>$. General properties of the $cC$ operators for these Hamiltonians are derived. A detailed study of $cC$-operator parametrizations and Krein type resolvent formulas is provided for $J$-self-adjoint extensions of symmetric operators with deficiency indices $<2,2>$. The technique is exemplified on 1D pseudo-Hermitian Schrodinger and Dirac Hamiltonians with complex point-interaction potentials.
We study the stationary problem of a charged Dirac particle in (2+1) dimensions in the presence of a uniform magnetic field B and a singular magnetic tube of flux Phi = 2 pi kappa/e. The rotational invariance of this configuration implies that the su bspaces of definite angular momentum l+1/2 are invariant under the action of the Hamiltonian H. We show that, for l different from the integer part of kappa, the restriction of H to these subspaces, H_l is essentially self-adjoint, while for l equal to the integer part of kappa, H_l admits a one-parameter family of self-adjoint extensions (SAE). In the later case, the functions in the domain of H_l are singular (but square-integrable) at the origin, their behavior being dictated by the value of the parameter gamma that identifies the SAE. We also determine the spectrum of the Hamiltonian as a function of kappa and gamma, as well as its closure.

The most general Dirac Hamiltonians in $(1+1)$ dimensions are revisited under the requirement to exhibit a supersymmetric structure. It is found that supersymmetry allows either for a scalar or a pseudo-scalar potential. Their spectral properties are shown to be represented by those of the associated non-relativistic Witten model. The general discussion is extended to include the corresponding relativistic and non-relativistic resolvents. As example the well-studied relativistic Dirac oscillator is considered and the associated resolved kernel is found in a closed form expression by utilising the energy-dependent Greens function of the non-relativistic harmonic oscillator. The supersymmetric quasi-classical approximation for the Witten model is extended to the associated relativistic model.
We compute the deficiency spaces of operators of the form $H_A{hat{otimes}} I + I{hat{otimes}} H_B$, for symmetric $H_A$ and self-adjoint $H_B$. This enables us to construct self-adjoint extensions (if they exist) by means of von Neumanns theory. The structure of the deficiency spaces for this case was asserted already by Ibort, Marmo and Perez-Pardo, but only proven under the restriction of $H_B$ having discrete, non-degenerate spectrum.

This paper is a natural continuation of the previous paper J.Phys. A: Math.Theor. 44 (2011) 425204, arXiv 0907.1736 [quant-ph] where oscillator representations for nonnegative Calogero Hamiltonians with coupling constant $alphageq-1/4$ were construct ed. Here, we present generalized oscillator representations for all Calogero Hamiltonians with $alphageq-1/4$.These representations are generally highly nonunique, but there exists an optimum representation for each Hamiltonian.
