The identification of electronic nematicity across series of iron-based superconductors raises the question of its relationship with superconductivity and other ordered states. Here, we report a systematic elastoresistivity study on LaFe$_{1-x}$Co$_x$AsO single crystals, which have well separated structural and magnetic transition lines. All crystals show Curie-Weiss-like nematic susceptibility in the tetragonal phase. The extracted nematic temperature is monotonically suppressed upon cobalt doping, and changes sign around the optimal doping level, indicating a possible nematic quantum critical point beneath the superconducting dome. The amplitude of nematic susceptibility shows a peculiar double-peak feature. This could be explained by a combined effect of different contributions to the nematic susceptibility, which are amplified at separated doping levels of LaFe$_{1-x}$Co$_x$AsO.

In this work we revisit the phase diagram of Co-doped LaFeAsO using single crystals and thermodynamic methods. From magnetic susceptibility studies we track the doping evolution of the antiferromagnetic phase, revealing a continuous suppression of $T _mathrm{N}$ up to 5$%$ Co doping. In order to study the evolution of the so-called nematic phase, the temperature dependence of the lengths changes along the $a$ and $b$ orthorhombic directions, $Delta L/L_0$, was determined by high-resolution capacitance dilatometry. The results clearly show a gradual reduction of the orthorhombic distortion $delta$ and of $T_mathrm{S}$ with increasing Co content up to 4.5$%$, while it is completely suppressed for 7.5$%$ Co. Bulk superconductivity was found in a small doping region around 6$%$ Co content, while both $T_mathrm{c}$ and the superconducting volume fraction rapidly drop in the neighbouring doping regime. Ultimately, no microscopic coexistence between the superconducting and magnetic phases can be assessed within our resolution limit, in sharp contrast with other iron-pnictide families, e.g., electron- and hole-doped BaFe$_2$As$_2$.

We investigate superconductivity and transport properties of Co doped SmFe$_{1-x}$Co$_{x}$AsO system. The antiferromagnetic (AFM) spin-density wave (SDW) order is rapidly suppressed by Co doping, and superconductivity emerges as $x$ $geq$ 0.05. $T_c$ $^{mid}$ increases with increasing Co content, shows a maximum of 17.2 K at the optimally doping of $xsim$ 0.10. A phase diagram is derived based on the transport measurements and a dome-like $T_c$ versus $x$ curve is established. Meanwhile we found that the normal state thermopower might consist of two different contributions. One contribution increases gradually with increasing $x$, and the other contribution is abnormally enhanced in the superconducting window 0.05 $leq$ $x$ $leq$ 0.20, and shows a dome-like doping dependence. A close correlation between $T_{c}$ and the abnormally enhanced term of thermopower is proposed.
We use time-of-flight (ToF) inelastic neutron scattering (INS) spectroscopy to investigate the doping dependence of magnetic excitations across the phase diagram of NaFe$_{1-x}$Co$_x$As with $x=0, 0.0175, 0.0215, 0.05,$ and $0.11$. The effect of elec tron-doping by partially substituting Fe by Co is to form resonances that couple with superconductivity, broaden and suppress low energy ($Ele 80$ meV) spin excitations compared with spin waves in undoped NaFeAs. However, high energy ($E> 80$ meV) spin excitations are weakly Co-doping dependent. Integration of the local spin dynamic susceptibility $chi^{primeprime}(omega)$ of NaFe$_{1-x}$Co$_x$As reveals a total fluctuating moment of 3.6 $mu_B^2$/Fe and a small but systematic reduction with electron doping. The presence of a large spin gap in the Co-overdoped nonsuperconducting NaFe$_{0.89}$Co$_{0.11}$As suggests that Fermi surface nesting is responsible for low-energy spin excitations. These results parallel Ni-doping evolution of spin excitations in BaFe$_{2-x}$Ni$_x$As$_2$, confirming the notion that low-energy spin excitations coupling with itinerant electrons are important for superconductivity, while weakly doping dependent high-energy spin excitations result from localized moments.
Nematic order is ubiquitous in liquid crystals and is characterized by a rotational symmetry breaking in an otherwise uniform liquid. Recently a similar phenomenon has been observed in some electronic phases of quantum materials related to high tempe rature superconductivity, particularly in the Fe-based superconductors. While several experiments have probed nematic fluctuations, they have been primarily restricted to the uniform nematic susceptibility, i.e. q = 0 fluctuations. Here, we investigate the behavior of finite-momentum nematic fluctuations by measuring transverse acoustic phonon modes with wavelengths of up to 25 unit cells in the prototypical Fe-based compound Ba(Fe$_{1-x}$Co$_x$)$_2$As$_2$. While the slope of the phonon dispersion gives information about the uniform nematic susceptibility, deviations from this linear behavior at finite but small wave-vectors are attributed to finite-momentum nematic fluctuations. Surprisingly, these non-zero q fluctuations lead to a softening of the phonon mode below the superconducting transition temperature, in contrast to the behavior of the phonon velocity at q = 0, which increases below $T_c$. Our work not only establishes a sound method to probe long wavelength nematic fluctuations, but also sheds light on the unique interplay between nematicity and superconductivity in Fe-based compounds.

A superconducting-to-magnetic transition is reported for LaFe$_{1-x}$Mn$_x$AsO$_{0.89}$F$_{0.11}$ where a per thousand amount of Mn impurities is dispersed. By employing local spectroscopic techniques like muon spin rotation (muSR) and nuclear quadru pole resonance (NQR) on compounds with Mn contents ranging from x=0.025% to x=0.75%, we find that the electronic properties are extremely sensitive to the Mn impurities. In fact, a small amount of Mn as low as 0.2% suppresses superconductivity completely. Static magnetism, involving the FeAs planes, is observed to arise for x > 0.1% and becomes further enhanced upon increasing Mn substitution. Also a progressive increase of low energy spin fluctuations, leading to an enhancement of the NQR spin-lattice relaxation rate 1/T1, is observed upon Mn substitution. The analysis of 1/T1 for the sample closest to the the crossover between superconductivity and magnetism (x = 0.2%) points towards the presence of an antiferromagnetic quantum critical point around that doping level.
