We study CP-conserving non-minimal flavour violation in $A_4 times SU(5)$ inspired Supersymmetric Grand Unified Theories (GUTs), focussing on the regions of parameter space where dark matter is successfully accommodated due to a light right-handed smuon a few GeV heavier than the lightest neutralino. We find that it is necessary to scan over all NMFV parameters simultaneously in order to properly constrain the space of the model.

We study CP-conserving non-minimal flavour violation in $A_4 times SU(5)$ inspired Supersymmetric Grand Unified Theories (GUTs), focussing on the regions of parameter space where dark matter is successfully accommodated due to a light right-handed sm uon a few GeV heavier than the lightest neutralino. In this region of parameter space we find that some of the flavour-violating parameters are constrained by the requirement of the dark matter relic density, due to the delicate interplay between the smuon and neutralino masses. By scanning over GUT scale flavour violating parameters, constrained by low-energy quark and lepton flavour violating observables, we find a striking difference in the results in which individual parameters are varied to those where multiple parameters are varied simultaneously, where the latter relaxes the constraints on flavour violating parameters due to cancellations and/or correlations. Since charged lepton-flavour violation provides the strongest constraints within a GUT framework, due to relations between quark and lepton flavour violation, we examine in detail a prominent correlation between some of the flavour violating parameters at the GUT scale consistent with the stringent lepton flavour violating process $mu rightarrow e gamma$. We also examine the relation between GUT scale and low scale flavour violating parameters, for both quarks and leptons, and show how the usual expectations may be violated due to the correlations when multiple parameters are varied simultaneously.

We propose a model in which $A_4$ Family Symmetry arises dynamically from a six dimensional orbifold SU(5) Supersymmetric Grand Unified Theory. The SU(5) is broken to the Standard Model gauge group by a particular orbifold compactification leading to $A_4$ Family Symmetry, low energy Supersymmetry and Higgs doublet-triplet splitting. The resulting four dimensional effective superpotential leads to a realistic description of quark and lepton masses and mixing angles including tri-bimaximal neutrino mixing and an inter-family mass hierarchy provided by a Froggatt-Nielsen mechanism. This model is the first which combines the idea of orbifold GUTs with $A_4$ family symmetry resulting from the orbifolding.
We examine proton decay mediated by color-triplet Higgsinos in minimal supersymmetric $SU(5)$ grand unified theory in light of the discovery of the Higgs boson and the absence of SUSY signals at the LHC. We pay special attention to various threshold effects arising from Planck-suppressed operators that affect the color-triplet Higgsino mass and also correct the wrong mass relations for the light fermions. Our analysis allows for a non-universal SUSY spectrum with the third family scalars having a separate mass compared to the first two families. We identify the allowed parameter space of the model and show that the SUSY scalar masses are constrained by current limits from proton lifetime to be above 5 TeV, while the glunio, Wino and the Higgsinos may be within reach of the LHC. When the SUSY scalar masses are required to be $leq 20$ TeV, so that they are within reach of next generation collider experiments, we find that proton lifetime for the decay $p rightarrow overline{ u} K^+$ is bounded by $tau(p rightarrow overline{ u} K^+) leq 1.1 times 10^{35}$ yrs.
We perform a likelihood analysis of the constraints from accelerator experiments and astrophysical observations on supersymmetric (SUSY) models with SU(5) boundary conditions on soft SUSY-breaking parameters at the GUT scale. The parameter space of t he models studied has 7 parameters: a universal gaugino mass $m_{1/2}$, distinct masses for the scalar partners of matter fermions in five- and ten-dimensional representations of SU(5), $m_5$ and $m_{10}$, and for the $mathbf{5}$ and $mathbf{bar 5}$ Higgs representations $m_{H_u}$ and $m_{H_d}$, a universal trilinear soft SUSY-breaking parameter $A_0$, and the ratio of Higgs vevs $tan beta$. In addition to previous constraints from direct sparticle searches, low-energy and flavour observables, we incorporate constraints based on preliminary results from 13 TeV LHC searches for jets + MET events and long-lived particles, as well as the latest PandaX-II and LUX searches for direct Dark Matter detection. In addition to previously-identified mechanisms for bringing the supersymmetric relic density into the range allowed by cosmology, we identify a novel ${tilde u_R}/{tilde c_R} - tilde{chi}^0_1$ coannihilation mechanism that appears in the supersymmetric SU(5) GUT model and discuss the role of ${tilde u_tau}$ coannihilation. We find complementarity between the prospects for direct Dark Matter detection and SUSY searches at the LHC.

We propose an SU(5) SUSY GUT of flavour with A_4 family symmetry in 8d where the vacuum alignment is achieved in an elegant way by the use of boundary conditions on orbifolds. The model involves SU(5) living in the 8d bulk, with matter living in 6d ( or 4d) subspaces and Yukawa interactions occurring at a 4d point. The GUT group is broken to the Standard Model by the orbifold compactification, setting the GUT scale and leading to low energy supersymmetry and Higgs doublet-triplet splitting. The first two families of 10-plets are doubled resulting in a lack of both desirable and unwanted GUT relations. The resulting four dimensional effective superpotential leads to a realistic description of quark and lepton masses and mixing angles including tri-bimaximal neutrino mixing and an inter-family mass hierarchy provided in part by volume suppression and in part by a Froggatt-Nielsen mechanism.
