The Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) is under intense scrutiny at the LHC and in dark matter searches. Interestingly, scenarios with light squarks of the third generation remain not only viable, but also well motivated by the observed Standard-Model-like Higgs boson mass and dark matter relic density. The latter often requires important contributions from squark pair annihilation. Following up on previous work, we present in this paper a precision analysis of squark pair annihilation into quarks at next-to-leading order of QCD including Sommerfeld enhancement effects. We discuss all technical details of our one-loop, real emission and resummation calculations, their implementation in the precision tool DM@NLO, as well as the numerical impact on the annihilation cross section and cosmological relic density in phenomenological MSSM scenarios respecting in particular current LHC constraints. We demonstrate that including these radiative corrections leads to substantial shifts in the preferred parameter regions by up to 20 GeV.

The production of one hard jet in association with missing transverse energy is a major LHC search channel motivated by many scenarios for physics beyond the Standard Model. In scenarios with a weakly interacting dark matter candidate, like supersymm etry, it arises from the associated production of a quark partner with the dark matter agent. We present the next-to-leading order cross section calculation as the first application of the fully automized MadGolem package. We find moderate corrections to the production rate with a strongly reduced theory uncertainty.
We present completely general next-to-leading order predictions for squark and gluino production at the LHC, based on the fully automated MadGolem tool. Without any assumptions on the mass spectrum we predict production rates and examine the structur e of the massless and massive quantum corrections. This allows us to quantify theory uncertainties induced by the spectrum assumptions commonly made. Going beyond total rates we compare general fixed-order distributions to resummed predictions from jet merging. As part of this comprehensive study we present the MadGolem treatment of ultraviolet, infrared and on-shell divergences.
We present the first calculation at next-to-leading order (NLO) in $alpha_s$ of a fragmentation function into quarkonium whose form at leading order is a nontrivial function of $z$, namely the fragmentation function for a gluon into a spin-singlet S- wave state at leading order in the relative velocity. To calculate the real NLO corrections, we introduce a new subtraction scheme that allows the phase-space integrals to be evaluated in 4 dimensions. We extract all ultraviolet and infrared divergences in the real NLO corrections analytically by calculating the phase-space integrals of the subtraction terms in $4-2epsilon$ dimensions. We also extract the divergences in the virtual NLO corrections analytically, and detail the cancellation of all divergences after renormalization. The NLO corrections have a dramatic effect on the shape of the fragmentation function, and they significantly increase the fragmentation probability.
We determine an approximate expression for the O(alpha_s^3) contribution chi_2 to the kernel of the BFKL equation, which includes all collinear and anticollinear singular contributions. This is derived using recent results on the relation between the GLAP and BFKL kernels (including running-coupling effects to all orders) and on small-x factorization schemes. We present the result in various schemes, relevant both for applications to the BFKL equation and to small-x evolution of parton distributions.

We present predictions for the total ttbar production cross section sigma_ttbar at the Tevatron and LHC, which include the resummation of soft logarithms and Coulomb singularities through next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic order, and ttbar bound-sta te contributions. Resummation effects amount to about 8 % of the next-to-leading order result at Tevatron and about 3 % at LHC with 7 TeV centre-of-mass energy. They lead to a significant reduction of the theoretical uncertainty. With m_t=173.3 GeV, we find sigma_ttbar=7.22^{+0.31+0.71}_{-0.47-0.55} pb at Tevatron and sigma_ttbar=162.6^{+7.4+15.4}_{-7.5-14.7} at the LHC, in good agreement with the latest experimental measurements.
