Quasicritical exponents of one-dimensional models displaying a quasitransition at finite temperatures are examined in detail. The quasitransition is characterized by intense sharp peaks in physical quantities such as specific heat and magnetic susceptibility, which are reminiscent of divergences accompanying a continuous (second-order) phase transition. The question whether these robust finite peaks follow some power law around the quasicritical temperature is addressed. Although there is no actual divergence of these quantities at a quasicritical temperature, a power-law behavior fits precisely both ascending as well as descending part of the peaks in the vicinity but not too close to a quasicritical temperature. The specific values of the quasicritical exponents are rigorously calculated for a class of one-dimensional models (e.g. Ising-XYZ diamond chain, coupled spin-electron double-tetrahedral chain, Ising-XXZ two-leg ladder, and Ising-XXZ three-leg tube), whereas the same set of quasicritical exponents implies a certain `universality of quasitransitions of one-dimensional models. Specifically, the values of the quasicritical exponents for one-dimensional models are: $alpha=alpha=3$ for the specific heat, $gamma=gamma=3$ for the susceptibility and $ u= u=1$ for the correlation length.

We study measures of decoherence and thermalization of a quantum system $S$ in the presence of a quantum environment (bath) $E$. The whole system is prepared in a canonical thermal state at a finite temperature. Applying perturbation theory with resp ect to the system-environment coupling strength, we find that under common Hamiltonian symmetries, up to first order in the coupling strength it is sufficient to consider the uncoupled system to predict decoherence and thermalization measures of $S$. This decoupling allows closed form expressions for perturbative expansions for the measures of decoherence and thermalization in terms of the free energies of $S$ and of $E$. Numerical results for both coupled and decoupled systems with up to 40 quantum spins validate these findings.

We introduce a new universality class of one-dimensional unimodal dissipative maps. The new family, from now on referred to as the ($z_1,z_2$)-{it logarithmic map}, corresponds to a generalization of the $z$-logistic map. The Feigenbaum-like constant s of these maps are determined. It has been recently shown that the probability density of sums of iterates at the edge of chaos of the $z$-logistic map is numerically consistent with a $q$-Gaussian, the distribution which, under appropriate constraints, optimizes the nonadditive entropy $S_q$. We focus here on the presently generalized maps to check whether they constitute a new universality class with regard to $q$-Gaussian attractor distributions. We also study the generalized $q$-entropy production per unit time on the new unimodal dissipative maps, both for strong and weak chaotic cases. The $q$-sensitivity indices are obtained as well. Our results are, like those for the $z$-logistic maps, numerically compatible with the $q$-generalization of a Pesin-like identity for ensemble averages.
We provide general formulae for the configurational exponents of an arbitrary polymer network connected to the surface of an arbitrary wedge of the two-dimensional plane, where the surface is allowed to assume a general mixture of boundary conditions on either side of the wedge. We report on a comprehensive study of a linear chain by exact enumeration, with various attachments of the walks ends to the surface, in wedges of angles $pi/2$ and $pi$, with general mixed boundary conditions.

Renormalization group theory does not restrict the from of continuous variation of critical exponents which occurs in presence of a marginal operator. However, the continuous variation of critical exponents, observed in different contexts, usually fo llows a weak universality scenario where some of the exponents (e.g., $beta, gamma, u$) vary keeping others (e.g., $delta , eta$) fixed. Here we report a ferromagnetic phase transition in (Sm$_{1-y}$Nd$_{y}$)$_{0.52}$Sr$_{0.48}$MnO$_3$ $(0.5le yle1)$ single crystal where all critical exponents vary with $y.$ Such variation clearly violates both universality and weak universality hypothesis. We propose a new scaling theory that explains the present experimental results, reduces to the weak universality as a special case, and provides a generic route leading to continuous variation of critical exponents and multicriticality.
Singularities of dynamical large-deviation functions are often interpreted as the signal of a dynamical phase transition and the coexistence of distinct dynamical phases, by analogy with the correspondence between singularities of free energies and e quilibrium phase behavior. Here we study models of driven random walkers on a lattice. These models display large-deviation singularities in the limit of large lattice size, but the extent to which each models phenomenology resembles a phase transition depends on the details of the driving. We also compare the behavior of ergodic and non-ergodic models that present large-deviation singularities. We argue that dynamical large-deviation singularities indicate the divergence of a model timescale, but not necessarily one associated with cooperative behavior or the existence of distinct phases.
