Phase retrieval refers to the recovery of signals from the magnitudes (and not the phases) of linear measurements. While there has been a recent explosion in development of phase retrieval methods, the lack of a common interface has made it difficult to compare new methods against the current state-of-the-art. PhasePack is a software library that creates a common interface for a wide range of phase retrieval schemes. PhasePack also provides a test bed for phase retrieval methods using both synthetic data and publicly available empirical datasets.

Phase retrieval deals with the estimation of complex-valued signals solely from the magnitudes of linear measurements. While there has been a recent explosion in the development of phase retrieval algorithms, the lack of a common interface has made i t difficult to compare new methods against the state-of-the-art. The purpose of PhasePack is to create a common software interface for a wide range of phase retrieval algorithms and to provide a common testbed using both synthetic data and empirical imaging datasets. PhasePack is able to benchmark a large number of recent phase retrieval methods against one another to generate comparisons using a range of different performance metrics. The software package handles single method testing as well as multiple method comparisons. The algorithm implementations in PhasePack differ slightly from their original descriptions in the literature in order to achieve faster speed and improved robustness. In particular, PhasePack uses adaptive stepsizes, line-search methods, and fast eigensolvers to speed up and automate convergence.
We present Gridap, a new scientific software library for the numerical approximation of partial differential equations (PDEs) using grid-based approximations. Gridap is an open-source software project exclusively written in the Julia programming lang uage. The main motivation behind the development of this library is to provide an easy-to-use framework for the development of complex PDE solvers in a dynamically typed style without sacrificing the performance of statically typed languages. This work is a tutorial-driven user guide to the library. It covers some popular linear and nonlinear PDE systems for scalar and vector fields, single and multi-field problems, conforming and nonconforming finite element discretizations, on structured and unstructured meshes of simplices and hexahedra.

Contents: (1) Introduction, (2) General relativity and black holes, (3) Black holes and thermodynamics, (4) Strong interaction and gauge theories, (5) The road to AdS/CFT, (6) The AdS spacetime, (7) AdS/CFT - equilibrium, (8) AdS/CFT - adding probes, (9) Basics of nonequilibrium physics, (10) AdS/CFT - nonequilibrium, (11) Other AdS spacetimes, (12) Applications to quark-gluon plasma, (13) Basics of phase transition, (14) AdS/CFT - phase transition, (15) Exercises.
GlobalBioIm is an open-source MATLAB library for solving inverse problems. The library capitalizes on the strong commonalities between forward models to standardize the resolution of a wide range of imaging inverse problems. Endowed with an operator- algebra mechanism, GlobalBioIm allows one to easily solve inverse problems by combining elementary modules in a lego-like fashion. This user-friendly toolbox gives access to cutting-edge reconstruction algorithms, while its high modularity makes it easily extensible to new modalities and novel reconstruction methods. We expect GlobalBioIm to respond to the needs of imaging scientists looking for reliable and easy-to-use computational tools for solving their inverse problems. In this paper, we present in detail the structure and main features of the library. We also illustrate its flexibility with examples from multichannel deconvolution microscopy.

In this paper, intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) is proposed to enhance the physical layer security in the Rician fading channel where the angular direction of the eavesdropper is aligned with a legitimate user. In this scenario, we consider a two -phase communication system under the active attacks and passive eavesdropping. Particularly, in the first phase, the base station avoids direct transmission to the attacked user. While, in the second phase, other users cooperate to forward signals to the attacked user with the help of IRS and energy harvesting technology. Under the active attacks, we investigate an outage constrained beamforming design problem under the statistical cascaded channel error model, which is solved by using the Bernstein-type inequality. As for the passive eavesdropping, an average secrecy rate maximization problem is formulated, which is addressed by a low complexity algorithm. Numerical results show that the negative effect of the eavesdroppers channel error is greater than that of the legitimate user.
