We study inverse boundary problems for a one dimensional linear integro-differential equation of the Gurtin--Pipkin type with the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map as the inverse data. Under natural conditions on the kernel of the integral operator, we give the explicit formula for the solution of the problem with the observation on the semiaxis $t>0.$ For the observation on finite time interval, we prove the uniqueness result, which is similar to the local Borg--Marchenko theorem for the Schrodinger equation.
We study the long-time behavior of the Cesaro means of fundamental solutions for fractional evolution equations corresponding to random time changes in the Brownian motion and other Markov processes. We consider both stable subordinators leading to e
We study the spectrum of the linear operator $L = - partial_{theta} - epsilon partial_{theta} (sin theta partial_{theta})$ subject to the periodic boundary conditions on $theta in [-pi,pi]$. We prove that the operator is closed in $L^2([-pi,pi])$ wit
An inverse scattering problem for a quantized scalar field ${bm phi}$ obeying a linear Klein-Gordon equation $(square + m^2 + V) {bm phi} = J mbox{in $mathbb{R} times mathbb{R}^3$}$ is considered, where $V$ is a repulsive external potential and $J$ a
We study boundary value problems posed in a semistrip for the elliptic sine-Gordon equation, which is the paradigm of an elliptic integrable PDE in two variables. We use the method introduced by one of the authors, which provides a substantial genera
By using the quasi-determinant the construction of Gelfand et al. leads to the inverse of a matrix with noncommuting entries. In this work we offer a new method that is more suitable for physical purposes and motivated by deformation quantization, wh
