Let $(Phi,Psi)$ be a conjugate pair of Orlicz functions. A set in the Orlicz space $L^Phi$ is said to be order closed if it is closed with respect to dominated convergence of sequences of functions. A well known problem arising from the theory of risk measures in financial mathematics asks whether order closedness of a convex set in $L^Phi$ characterizes closedness with respect to the topology $sigma(L^Phi,L^Psi)$. (See [26, p.3585].) In this paper, we show that for a norm bounded convex set in $L^Phi$, order closedness and $sigma(L^Phi,L^Psi)$-closedness are indeed equivalent. In general, however, coincidence of order closedness and $sigma(L^Phi,L^Psi)$-closedness of convex sets in $L^Phi$ is equivalent to the validity of the Krein-Smulian Theorem for the topology $sigma(L^Phi,L^Psi)$; that is, a convex set is $sigma(L^Phi,L^Psi)$-closed if and only if it is closed with respect to the bounded-$sigma(L^Phi,L^Psi)$ topology. As a result, we show that order closedness and $sigma(L^Phi,L^Psi)$-closedness of convex sets in $L^Phi$ are equivalent if and only if either $Phi$ or $Psi$ satisfies the $Delta_2$-condition. Using this, we prove the surprising result that: emph{If (and only if) $Phi$ and $Psi$ both fail the $Delta_2$-condition, then there exists a coherent risk measure on $L^Phi$ that has the Fatou property but fails the Fenchel-Moreau dual representation with respect to the dual pair $(L^Phi, L^Psi)$}. A similar analysis is carried out for the dual pair of Orlicz hearts $(H^Phi,H^Psi)$.

We provide a variety of results for (quasi)convex, law-invariant functionals defined on a general Orlicz space, which extend well-known results in the setting of bounded random variables. First, we show that Delbaens representation of convex function als with the Fatou property, which fails in a general Orlicz space, can be always achieved under the assumption of law-invariance. Second, we identify the range of Orlicz spaces where the characterization of the Fatou property in terms of norm lower semicontinuity by Jouini, Schachermayer and Touzi continues to hold. Third, we extend Kusuokas representation to a general Orlicz space. Finally, we prove a version of the extension result by Filipovi{c} and Svindland by replacing norm lower semicontinuity with the (generally non-equivalent) Fatou property. Our results have natural applications to the theory of risk measures.
In this paper, we study general monetary risk measures (without any convexity or weak convexity). A monetary (respectively, positively homogeneous) risk measure can be characterized as the lower envelope of a family of convex (respectively, coherent) risk measures. The proof does not depend on but easily leads to the classical representation theorems for convex and coherent risk measures. When the law-invariance and the SSD (second-order stochastic dominance)-consistency are involved, it is not the convexity (respectively, coherence) but the comonotonic convexity (respectively, comonotonic coherence) of risk measures that can be used for such kind of lower envelope characterizations in a unified form. The representation of a law-invariant risk measure in terms of VaR is provided.
In our previous paper, A Unified Approach to Systemic Risk Measures via Acceptance Set (textit{Mathematical Finance, 2018}), we have introduced a general class of systemic risk measures that allow for random allocations to individual banks before agg regation of their risks. In the present paper, we prove the dual representation of a particular subclass of such systemic risk measures and the existence and uniqueness of the optimal allocation related to them. We also introduce an associated utility maximization problem which has the same optimal solution as the systemic risk measure. In addition, the optimizer in the dual formulation provides a textit{risk allocation} which is fair from the point of view of the individual financial institutions. The case with exponential utilities which allows for explicit computation is treated in details.
We study combinations of risk measures under no restrictive assumption on the set of alternatives. We develop and discuss results regarding the preservation of properties and acceptance sets for the combinations of risk measures. One of the main resu lts is the representation for resulting risk measures from the properties of both alternative functionals and combination functions. To that, we build on the development of a representation for arbitrary mixture of convex risk measures. In this case, we obtain a penalty that recalls the notion of inf-convolution under theoretical measure integration. As an application, we address the context of probability-based risk measurements for functionals on the set of distribution functions. We develop results related to this specific context. We also explore features of individual interest generated by our framework, such as the preservation of continuity properties, the representation of worst-case risk measures, stochastic dominance and elicitability. We also address model uncertainty measurement under our framework and propose a new class of measures for this task.
Motivated by the problem of finding dual representations for quasiconvex systemic risk measures in financial mathematics, we study quasiconvex compositions in an abstract infinite-dimensional setting. We calculate an explicit formula for the penalty function of the composition in terms of the penalty functions of the ingredient functions. The proof makes use of a nonstandard minimax inequality (rather than equality as in the standard case) that is available in the literature. In the second part of the paper, we apply our results in concrete probabilistic settings for systemic risk measures, in particular, in the context of Eisenberg-Noe clearing model. We also provide novel economic interpretations of the dual representations in these settings.
