We develop a new class of supergravity cosmological models where inflation is induced by terms in the Kahler potential which mix a nilpotent superfield $S$ with a chiral sector $Phi$. As the new terms are non-(anti)holomorphic, and hence cannot be removed by a Kahler transformation, these models are intrinsically Kahler potential driven. Such terms could arise for example due to a backreaction of an anti-D3 brane on the string theory bulk geometry. We show that this mechanism is very general and allows for a unified description of inflation and dark energy, with controllable SUSY breaking at the vacuum. When the internal geometry of the bulk field is hyperbolic, we prove that small perturbative Kahler corrections naturally lead to $alpha$-attractor behaviour, with inflationary predictions in excellent agreement with the latest Planck data

Higgs inflation and $R^2$-inflation (Starobinsky model) are two limits of the same quantum model, hereafter called Starobinsky-Higgs. We analyse the two-loop action of the Higgs-like scalar $phi$ in the presence of: 1) non-minimal coupling ($xi$) and 2) quadratic curvature terms. The latter are generated at the quantum level with $phi$-dependent couplings ($tildealpha$) even if their tree-level couplings ($alpha$) are tuned to zero. Therefore, the potential always depends on both Higgs field $phi$ and scalaron $rho$, hence multi-field inflation is a quantum consequence. The effects of the quantum (one- and two-loop) corrections on the potential $hat W(phi, rho)$ and on the spectral index are discussed, showing that the Starobinsky-Higgs model is in general stable in their presence. Two special cases are also considered: first, for a large $xi$ in the quantum action one can integrate $phi$ and generate a refined Starobinsky model which contains additional terms $xi^2 R^2ln^p (xi vert Rvert/mu^2)$, $p=1,2$ ($mu$ is the subtraction scale). These generate corrections linear in the scalaron to the usual Starobinsky potential and a running scalaron mass. Second, for a small fixed Higgs field $phi^2 ll M_p^2/xi$ and a vanishing classical coefficient of the $R^2$-term, we show that the usual Starobinsky inflation is generated by the quantum corrections alone, for a suitable non-minimal coupling ($xi$).
We study physics concerning the cosmological constant problem in the framework of effective field theory and suggest that a dominant part of dark energy can originate from gravitational corrections of vacuum energy, under the assumption that the clas sical gravitational fields do not couple to a large portion of the vacuum energy effectively, in spite of the coupling between graviton and matters at a microscopic level. Our speculation is excellent with terascale supersymmetry.

The difficulty of building metastable vacua in string theory has led some to conjecture that, in the string theory landscape, potentials satisfy $left| abla V/Vright|geq csim mathcal{O}(1)$. This condition, which is supported by different explicit co nstructions, suggests that the EFTs which lead to metastable de-Sitter vacua belong to what is dubbed as swampland. This condition endangers the paradigm of single field inflation. In this paper, we show how scalar excited initial states cannot rescue single field inflation from the swampland, as they produce large local scalar non-gaussianity, which is in conflict with the Planck upper bound. Instead, we demonstrate that one can salvage single field inflation using excited initial states for tensor perturbations, which in this case produce only large flattened non-gaussianity in the tensor bispectrum. We comment on the possible methods one can prepare such excited initial conditions for the tensor perturbations.
We study the arguments given in [1] which suggest that the uplifting procedure in the KKLT construction is not valid. First we show that the modification of the SUSY breaking sector of the nilpotent superfield, as proposed in [1], is not consistent w ith non-linearly realized local supersymmetry of de Sitter supergravity. Keeping this issue aside, we also show that the corresponding bosonic potential does actually describe de Sitter uplifting.
We constructed a model of natural inflation in the context of $alpha$-attractor supergravity, in which both the dilaton field and the axion field are light during inflation, and the inflaton may be a combination of the two. The T-model version of thi s theory is defined on the Poincare disk with radius |Z| = 1. It describes a Mexican hat potential with the flat axion direction corresponding to a circle of radius |Z| < 1. The axion decay constant $f_{a}$ in this theory can be exponentially large because of the hyperbolic geometry of the Poincare disk. Depending on initial conditions, this model may describe $alpha$-attractor inflation driven by the radial component of the inflaton field, natural inflation driven by the axion field, or a sequence of these two regimes. We also construct the E-model version of this theory, which has similar properties. In addition, we describe generalized $alpha$-attractor models where the potential can be singular at the boundary of the moduli space, and show that they can provide a simple solution for the problem of initial conditions for the models with plateau potentials.
