To evaluate a fitting of a statistical model to given data, calculating a conditional $p$ value by a Markov chain Monte Carlo method is one of the effective approaches. For this purpose, a Markov basis plays an important role because it guarantees the connectivity of the chain for unbiasedness of the estimation, and therefore is investigated in various settings such as incomplete tables or subtable sum constraints. In this paper, we consider the two-way change-point model for the ladder determinantal table, which is an extension of these two previous works. Our main result is based on the theory of Groebner basis for the distributive lattice. We give a numerical example for actual data.

Markov basis for statistical model of contingency tables gives a useful tool for performing the conditional test of the model via Markov chain Monte Carlo method. In this paper we derive explicit forms of Markov bases for change point models and bloc k diagonal effect models, which are typical block-wise effect models of two-way contingency tables, and perform conditional tests with some real data sets.
It has been well-known that for two-way contingency tables with fixed row sums and column sums the set of square-free moves of degree two forms a Markov basis. However when we impose an additional constraint that the sum of a subtable is also fixed, then these moves do not necessarily form a Markov basis. Thus, in this paper, we show a necessary and sufficient condition on a subtable so that the set of square-free moves of degree two forms a Markov basis.
Vector Auto-Regressive (VAR) models capture lead-lag temporal dynamics of multivariate time series data. They have been widely used in macroeconomics, financial econometrics, neuroscience and functional genomics. In many applications, the data exhibi t structural changes in their autoregressive dynamics, which correspond to changes in the transition matrices of the VAR model that specify such dynamics. We present the R package VARDetect that implements two classes of algorithms to detect multiple change points in piecewise stationary VAR models. The first exhibits sublinear computational complexity in the number of time points and is best suited for structured sparse models, while the second exhibits linear time complexity and is designed for models whose transition matrices are assumed to have a low rank plus sparse decomposition. The package also has functions to generate data from the various variants of VAR models discussed, which is useful in simulation studies, as well as to visualize the results through network layouts.
Without imposing prior distributional knowledge underlying multivariate time series of interest, we propose a nonparametric change-point detection approach to estimate the number of change points and their locations along the temporal axis. We develo p a structural subsampling procedure such that the observations are encoded into multiple sequences of Bernoulli variables. A maximum likelihood approach in conjunction with a newly developed searching algorithm is implemented to detect change points on each Bernoulli process separately. Then, aggregation statistics are proposed to collectively synthesize change-point results from all individual univariate time series into consistent and stable location estimations. We also study a weighting strategy to measure the degree of relevance for different subsampled groups. Simulation studies are conducted and shown that the proposed change-point methodology for multivariate time series has favorable performance comparing with currently popular nonparametric methods under various settings with different degrees of complexity. Real data analyses are finally performed on categorical, ordinal, and continuous time series taken from fields of genetics, climate, and finance.
The variance of noise plays an important role in many change-point detection procedures and the associated inferences. Most commonly used variance estimators require strong assumptions on the true mean structure or normality of the error distribution , which may not hold in applications. More importantly, the qualities of these estimators have not been discussed systematically in the literature. In this paper, we introduce a framework of equivariant variance estimation for multiple change-point models. In particular, we characterize the set of all equivariant unbiased quadratic variance estimators for a family of change-point model classes, and develop a minimax theory for such estimators.
