The symmetry requirement and the origin of magnetic orders coexisting with superconductivity have been strongly debated issues of iron-based superconductors (FeSCs). Observation of C$_4$-symmetric antiferromagnetism in violation of the inter-band nesting condition of spin-density waves in superconducting ground state will require significant change in our understanding of the mechanism of FeSC. The superconducting material Sr$_2$VO$_3$FeAs, a bulk version of monolayer FeSC in contact with a perovskite layer with its magnetism (T$_N$ ~ 50 K) and superconductivity (T$_c$ ~ 37 K) coexisting at parent state, has no reported structural orthorhombic distortion and thus makes a perfect system to look for theoretically expected C$_4$ magnetisms. Based on variable temperature spin-polarized scanning tunneling microscopy (SPSTM) with newly discovered imaging mechanism that removes the static surface reconstruction (SR) pattern by fluctuating it rapidly with spin-polarized tunneling current, we could visualize underlying C$_4$ symmetric (2$times$2) magnetic domains and its phase domain walls. We find that this magnetic order is perfectly consistent with the plaquette antiferromagnetic order in tetragonal Fe spin lattice expected from theories based on the Heisenberg exchange interaction of local Fe moments and the quantum order by disorder. The inconsistency of its modulation Q vectors from the nesting condition also implies that the nesting-based C$_2$ symmetric magnetism is not a unique prerequisite of high-T$_c$ FeSC. Furthermore, the plaquette antiferromagnetic domain wall dynamics under the influence of small spin torque effect of spin-polarized tunneling current are shown to be consistent with theoretical simulation based on the extended Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation.

Electronic correlations were long suggested not only to be responsible for the complexity of many novel materials, but also to form essential prerequisites for their intriguing properties. Electronic behavior of iron-based superconductors is far from conventional, while the reason for that is not yet understood. Here we present a combined study of the electronic spectrum in the iron-based superconductor FeSe by means of angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) and dynamical mean field theory (DMFT). Both methods in unison reveal strong deviations of the spectrum from single-electron approximation for the whole 3$d$ band of iron: not only the well separated coherent and incoherent parts of the spectral weight are observed, but also a noticeable dispersion of the lower Hubbard band (LHB) is clearly present. This way we demonstrate correlations of the most puzzling intermediate coupling strength in iron superconductors.

Alkali-doped iron selenide is the latest member of high Tc superconductor family, and its peculiar characters have immediately attracted extensive attention. We prepared high-quality potassium-doped iron selenide (KxFe2-ySe2) thin films by molecular beam epitaxy and unambiguously demonstrated the existence of phase separation, which is currently under debate, in this material using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy. The stoichiometric superconducting phase KFe2Se2 contains no iron vacancies, while the insulating phase has a surd5timessurd5 vacancy order. The iron vacancies are shown always destructive to superconductivity in KFe2Se2. Our study on the subgap bound states induced by the iron vacancies further reveals a magnetically-related bipartite order in the superconducting phase. These findings not only solve the existing controversies in the atomic and electronic structures in KxFe2-ySe2, but also provide valuable information on understanding the superconductivity and its interplay with magnetism in iron-based superconductors.
The nature and value of the order parameters (OPs) in the superconducting Fe-based oxypnictides REFeAsO_(1-x)F_x (RE = rare earth) are a matter of intense debate, also connected to the pairing mechanism which is probably unconventional. Point-contact Andreev-reflection experiments on LaFeAsO_(1-x)F_x gave us direct evidence of three energy scales in the superconducting state: a nodeless superconducting OP, Delta1 = 2.8-4.6 meV, which scales with the local Tc of the contact; a larger unconventional OP that gives conductance peaks at 9.8-12 meV, apparently closes below Tc and decreases on increasing the Tc of the contact; a pseudogaplike feature (i.e. a depression in the conductance around zero bias), that survives in the normal state up to T* ~ 140 K (close to the Neel temperature of the undoped compound), which we associate to antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations (AF SF) coexisting with superconductivity. These findings point toward a complex, unconventional nature of superconductivity in LaFeAsO_(1-x)F_x.
The optical properties of KFe$_2$As$_2$ have been measured for light polarized in the a-b planes over a wide temperature and frequency range. Below $T^astsimeq 155$ K, where this material undergoes an incoherent-coherent crossover, we observe a new c oherent response emerging in the optical conductivity. A spectral weight analysis suggests that this new feature arises out of high-energy bound states. Below about $T_{rm FL} simeq 75$ K the scattering rate for this new feature is quadratic in temperature, indicating a Fermi-liquid response. Theory calculations suggest this crossover is dominated by the $d_{xy}$ orbital. Our results advocate for Kondo-type screening as the mechanism for the orbital-selective incoherent-coherent crossover in hole-overdoped KFe$_2$As$_2$.

Polarized beam neutron scattering measurements on a highly perfect crystal of ${rm YBa_2Cu_3O_{6.6}}$ show a distinct magnetic transition with an onset at about 235K, the temperature expected for the pseudogap transition. The moment is found to be ab out 0.1 $mu_B$ for each sublattice and have a correlation length of at least 75 AA. We found the critical exponent for the magnetic neutron intensity to be 2$beta$ =0.37$pm$ 0.12. This is the proper range for the class of transition that has no specific heat divergence possibly explaining why none is found at the pseudogap transition.
