The spin dynamics of Tb(OETAP)$_2$ single ion magnets was investigated by means of muon spin resonance ($mu$SR) both in the bulk material as well as when the system is embedded into PEDOT:PSS polymer conductor. The characteristic spin fluctuation time is characterized by a high temperature activated trend, with an energy barrier around 320 K, and by a low temperature tunneling regime. When the single ion magnet is embedded into the polymer the energy barrier only slightly decreases and the fluctuation time remains of the same order of magnitude even at low temperature. This finding shows that these single molecule magnets preserve their characteristics which, if combined with those of the conducting polymer, result in a hybrid material of potential interest for organic spintronics.

Direct evidence of quantum coherence in a single-molecule magnet in frozen solution is reported with coherence times as long as T2 = 630 ns. We can strongly increase the coherence time by modifying the matrix in which the single-molecule magnets are embedded. The electron spins are coupled to the proton nuclear spins of both the molecule itself and interestingly, also to those of the solvent. The clear observation of Rabi oscillations indicates that we can manipulate the spin coherently, an essential prerequisite for performing quantum computations.
Charge density waves are ubiquitous phenomena in metallic transition metal dichalcogenides. In NbSe$_2$, a triangular $3times3$ structural modulation is coupled to a charge modulation. Recent experiments reported evidence for a triangular-stripe tran sition at the surface, due to strain or accidental doping and associated to a $4times4$ modulation. We employ textit{ab-initio} calculations to investigate the strain-induced structural instabilities in a pristine single layer and analyse the energy hierarchy of the structural and charge modulations. Our results support the observation of phase separation between triangular and stripe phases in 1H-NbSe$_2$, relating the stripe phase to compressive isotropic strain, favouring the $4times4$ modulation. The observed wavelength of the charge modulation is also reproduced with good accuracy.

For a general class of conducting polymers with arbitrary large unit cell and different on-site Coulomb repulsion values on different type of sites, I demonstrate in exact terms the emergence possibility of an upper, interaction created effective fla t band. This last appears as a consequence of a kinetic energy quench accompanied by a strong interaction energy decrease, and leads to a non-saturated ferromagnetic state. This ordered state clearly differs from the known flat-band ferromagnetism. This is because it emerges in a system without bare flat bands, requires inhomogeneous on-site Coulomb repulsions values, and possesses non-zero lower interaction limits at the emergence of the ordered phase.
The skyrmions generated by frustration in centrosymmetric structures host extra internal degrees of freedom: vorticity and helicity, resulting in distinctive properties and potential functionality, which are not shared by the skyrmions stemming from the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction in noncentrosymmetric structures. The present work indicates that the magnetism-driven electric polarization carried by skyrmions provides a direct handle for tuning helicity. Especially for the in-plane magnetized skyrmions, the helicity can be continuously rotated and exactly picked by applying an external electric field for both skyrmions and antiskyrmions. The in-plane uniaxial anisotropy is beneficial to this manipulation.
Magnetization, AC susceptibility and $mu$SR measurements have been performed in neutral phthalocyaninato lanthanide ([LnPc$_2]^0$) single molecule magnets in order to determine the low-energy levels structure and to compare the low-frequency spin exc itations probed by means of macroscopic techniques, such as AC susceptibility, with the ones explored by means of techniques of microscopic character, such as $mu$SR. Both techniques show a high temperature thermally activated regime for the spin dynamics and a low temperature tunneling one. While in the activated regime the correlation times for the spin fluctuations estimated by AC susceptibility and $mu$SR basically agree, clear discrepancies are found in the tunneling regime. In particular, $mu$SR probes a faster dynamics with respect to AC susceptibility. It is argued that the tunneling dynamics probed by $mu$SR involves fluctuations which do not yield a net change in the macroscopic magnetization probed by AC susceptibiliy. Finally resistivity measurements in [TbPc$_2]^0$ crystals show a high temperature nearly metallic behaviour and a low temperature activated behaviour.
