We investigate thermodynamic properties like specific heat $c_{V}$ and susceptibility $chi$ in anisotropic $J_1$-$J_2$ triangular quantum spin systems ($S=1/2$). As a universal tool we apply the finite temperature Lanczos method (FTLM) based on exact diagonalization of finite clusters with periodic boundary conditions. We use clusters up to $N=28$ sites where the thermodynamic limit behavior is already stably reproduced. As a reference we also present the full diagonalization of a small eight-site cluster. After introducing model and method we discuss our main results on $c_V(T)$ and $chi(T)$. We show the variation of peak position and peak height of these quantities as function of control parameter $J_2/J_1$. We demonstrate that maximum peak positions and heights in Neel phase and spiral phases are strongly asymmetric, much more than in the square lattice $J_1$-$J_2$ model. Our results also suggest a tendency to a second side maximum or shoulder formation at lower temperature for certain ranges of the control parameter. We finally explicitly determine the exchange model of the prominent triangular magnets Cs$_2$CuCl$_4$ and Cs$_{2}$CuBr$_{4}$ from our FTLM results.

The anisotropic-exchange spin-1/2 model on a triangular lattice has been used to describe the rare-earth chalcogenides, which may have exotic ground states. We investigate the quantum phase diagram of the model by using the projected entangled pair s tate (PEPS) method, and compare it to the classical phase diagram. Besides two stripe-ordered phase, and the 120$^circ$ state, there is also a multi-textbf{Q} phase. We identify the multi-textbf{Q} phase as a $Z_{2}$ vortex state. No quantum spin liquid state is found in the phase diagram, contrary to the previous DMRG calculations.
Two-leg spin-1/2 ladder systems consisting of a ferromagnetic leg and an antiferromagnetic leg are considered where the spins on the legs interact through antiferromagnetic rung couplings $J_1$. These ladders can have two geometrical arrangements eit her zigzag or normal ladder and these systems are frustrated irrespective of their geometry. This frustration gives rise to incommensurate spin density wave, dimer and spin fluid phases in the ground state. The magnetization in the systems decreases linearly with $J^2_1$, and the systems show an incommensurate phase for $0.0<J_1<1.0$. The spin-spin correlation functions in the incommensurate phase follow power law decay which is very similar to Heisenberg antiferromagnetic chain in external magnetic field. In large $J_1$ limit, the normal ladder behaves like a collection of singlet dimers, whereas the zigzag ladder behaves as a one dimensional spin-1/2 antiferromagnetic chain.
The family of magnetic rare-earth pyrochlore oxides R2M2O7 plays host to a diverse array of exotic phenomena, driven by the interplay between geometrical frustration and spin-orbit interaction, which leads to anisotropy in both magnetic moments and t heir interactions. In this article we establish a general, symmetry--based theory of pyrochlore magnets with anisotropic exchange interactions. Starting from a very general model of nearest-neighbour exchange between Kramers ions, we find four distinct classical ordered states, all with q=0, competing with a variety of spin-liquids and unconventional forms of magnetic order. The finite-temperature phase diagram of this model is determined by Monte Carlo simulation, supported by classical spin-wave calculations. We pay particular attention to the region of parameter space relevant to the widely studied materials Er2Ti2O7, Yb2Ti2O7, and Er2Sn2O7. We find that many of the most interesting properties of these materials can be traced back to the accidental degeneracies where phases with different symmetries meet. These include the ordered ground state selection by fluctuations in Er2Ti2O7, the dimensional-reduction observed in Yb2Ti2O7, and the lack of reported magnetic order in Er2Sn2O7. We also discuss the application of this theory to other pyrochlore oxides.

There is a growing family of rare-earth kagome materials with dominant nearest-neighbor interactions and strong spin orbit coupling. The low symmetry of these materials makes theoretical description complicated, with six distinct nearest-neighbor cou pling parameters allowed. In this Article, we ask what kinds of classical, ordered, ground states can be expected to occur in these materials, assuming generic (i.e. non-fine-tuned) sets of exchange parameters. We use symmetry analysis to show that there are only five distinct classical ground state phases occurring for generic parameters. The five phases are: (i) a coplanar, 2-fold degenerate, state with vanishing magnetization (${sf A_1}$), (ii) a noncoplanar, 2-fold degenerate, state with magnetization perpendicular to the kagome plane (${sf A_2}$), (iii) a coplanar, 6-fold degenerate, state with magnetization lying within the kagome plane (${sf E}$-coplanar), (iv) a noncoplanar, 6-fold degenerate, state with magnetization lying within a mirror plane of the lattice (${sf E}$-noncoplanar$_{6}$), (v) a noncoplanar, 12-fold degenerate, state with magnetization in an arbitrary direction (${sf E}$-noncoplanar$_{12}$). All five are translation invariant (${bf q}=0$) states. Having found the set of possible ground states, the ground state phase diagram is obtained by comparing numerically optimized energies for each possibility as a function of the coupling parameters. The state ${sf E}$ noncoplanar$_{12}$ is extremely rare, occupying $<1%$ of the full phase diagram, so for practical purposes there are four main ordered states likely to occur in anisotropic kagome magnets with dominant nearest neighbor interactions. These results can aid in interpreting recent experiments on ``tripod kagome systems R$_3$A$_2$Sb$_3$O$_{14}$, as well as materials closer to the isotropic limit such as Cr- and Fe- jarosites.
We analyze the thermodynamic properties of antiferromagnetic solids subjected to a combination of mutually orthogonal uniform magnetic and staggered fields. Low-temperature series for the pressure, order parameter and magnetization up to two-loop ord er in the effective expansion are established. We evaluate the self-energy and the dispersion relation of the dressed magnons in order to discuss the impact of spin-wave interactions on thermodynamic observables.
