For some variants of regression models, including partial, measurement error or error-in-variables, latent effects, semi-parametric and otherwise corrupted linear models, the classical parametric tests generally do not perform well. Various modifications and generalizations considered extensively in the literature rests on stringent regularity assumptions which are not likely to be tenable in many applications. However, in such non-standard cases, rank based tests can be adapted better, and further, incorporation of rank analysis of covariance tools enhance their power-efficiency. Numerical studies and a real data illustration show the superiority of rank based inference in such corrupted linear models.

Let $(Y,(X_i)_{iinmathcal{I}})$ be a zero mean Gaussian vector and $V$ be a subset of $mathcal{I}$. Suppose we are given $n$ i.i.d. replications of the vector $(Y,X)$. We propose a new test for testing that $Y$ is independent of $(X_i)_{iin mathcal{I }backslash V}$ conditionally to $(X_i)_{iin V}$ against the general alternative that it is not. This procedure does not depend on any prior information on the covariance of $X$ or the variance of $Y$ and applies in a high-dimensional setting. It straightforwardly extends to test the neighbourhood of a Gaussian graphical model. The procedure is based on a model of Gaussian regression with random Gaussian covariates. We give non asymptotic properties of the test and we prove that it is rate optimal (up to a possible $log(n)$ factor) over various classes of alternatives under some additional assumptions. Besides, it allows us to derive non asymptotic minimax rates of testing in this setting. Finally, we carry out a simulation study in order to evaluate the performance of our procedure.
We introduce estimation and test procedures through divergence minimization for models satisfying linear constraints with unknown parameter. Several statistical examples and motivations are given. These procedures extend the empirical likelihood (EL) method and share common features with generalized empirical likelihood (GEL). We treat the problems of existence and characterization of the divergence projections of probability measures on sets of signed finite measures. Our approach allows for a study of the estimates under misspecification. The asymptotic behavior of the proposed estimates are studied using the dual representation of the divergences and the explicit forms of the divergence projections. We discuss the problem of the choice of the divergence under various respects. Also we handle efficiency and robustness properties of minimum divergence estimates. A simulation study shows that the Hellinger divergence enjoys good efficiency and robustness properties.
Rank correlations have found many innovative applications in the last decade. In particular, suitable rank correlations have been used for consistent tests of independence between pairs of random variables. Using ranks is especially appealing for con tinuous data as tests become distribution-free. However, the traditional concept of ranks relies on ordering data and is, thus, tied to univariate observations. As a result, it has long remained unclear how one may construct distribution-free yet consistent tests of independence between random vectors. This is the problem addressed in this paper, in which we lay out a general framework for designing dependence measures that give tests of multivariate independence that are not only consistent and distribution-free but which we also prove to be statistically efficient. Our framework leverages the recently introduced concept of center-outward ranks and signs, a multivariate generalization of traditional ranks, and adopts a common standard form for dependence measures that encompasses many popular examples. In a unified study, we derive a general asymptotic representation of center-outward rank-based test statistics under independence, extending to the multivariate setting the classical H{a}jek asymptotic representation results. This representation permits direct calculation of limiting null distributions and facilitates a local power analysis that provides strong support for the center-outward approach by establishing, for the first time, the nontrivial power of center-outward rank-based tests over root-$n$ neighborhoods within the class of quadratic mean differentiable alternatives.
We consider the problem of the identification of stationary solutions to linear rational expectations models from the second moments of observable data. Observational equivalence is characterized and necessary and sufficient conditions are provided f or: (i) identification under affine restrictions, (ii) generic identification under affine restrictions of analytically parametrized models, and (iii) local identification under non-linear restrictions. The results strongly resemble the classical theory for VARMA models although significant points of departure are also documented.
In this paper, we survey some recent results on statistical inference (parametric and nonparametric statistical estimation, hypotheses testing) about the spectrum of stationary models with tapered data, as well as, a question concerning robustness of inferences, carried out on a linear stationary process contaminated by a small trend. We also discuss some question concerning tapered Toeplitz matrices and operators, central limit theorems for tapered Toeplitz type quadratic functionals, and tapered Fejer-type kernels and singular integrals. These are the main tools for obtaining the corresponding results, and also are of interest in themselves. The processes considered will be discrete-time and continuous-time Gaussian, linear or Levy-driven linear processes with memory.
