We present a general sufficient condition for the formation of black holes due to concentration of angular momentum. This is expressed in the form of a universal inequality, relating the size and angular momentum of bodies, and is proven in the context of axisymmetric initial data sets for the Einstein equations which satisfy an appropriate energy condition. A brief comparison is also made with more traditional black hole existence criteria based on concentration of mass.

A universal inequality that bounds the charge of a body by its size is presented, and is proven as a consequence of the Einstein equations in the context of initial data sets which satisfy an appropriate energy condition. We also present a general su fficient condition for the formation of black holes due to concentration of charge, and discuss the physical relevance of these results.
We establish the conjectured area-angular momentum-charge inequality for stable apparent horizons in the presence of a positive cosmological constant, and show that it is saturated precisely for extreme Kerr-Newman-de Sitter horizons. As with previou s inequalities of this type, the proof is reduced to minimizing an `area functional related to a harmonic map energy; in this case maps are from the 2-sphere to the complex hyperbolic plane. The proof here is simplified compared to previous results for less embellished inequalities, due to the observation that the functional is convex along geodesic deformations in the target.
We revisit monochromatic and isotropic photon emissions from the zero-angularlinebreak-momentum sources (ZAMSs) near a Kerr black hole. We investigate the escape probability of the photons that can reach to infinity and study the energy shifts of the se escaping photons, which could be expressed as the functions of the source radius and the black hole spin. We study the cases for generic source radius and black hole spin, but we pay special attention to the near-horizon (near-)extremal Kerr ((near-)NHEK) cases. We reproduce the relevant numerical results using a more efficient method and get new analytical results for (near-)extremal cases. The main non-trivial results are: in the NHEK region of a (near-)extremal Kerr black hole, the escape probability for a ZAMS tends to $frac{7}{24}approx 29.17%$, independent of the NHEK radius; at the innermost of the photon shell (IPS) in the near-NHEK region, the escape probability for a ZAMS tends to begin{equation} frac{5}{12} -frac{1}{sqrt{7}} + frac{2}{sqrt{7}pi}arctanfrac{1}{sqrt{7}}approx12.57% . onumber end{equation} The results show that the photon escape probability remains a relatively large nonzero value even though the ZAMS is in the deepest region of a near-horizon throat of a high spin Kerr black hole, as long as the ZAMS is outside the IPS. The energies of the escaping photons at infinity, however, are all redshifted but still visible in principle.
We present new equilibrium solutions of stationary models of magnetized thick disks (or tori) around Kerr black holes with synchronised scalar hair. The models reported here largely extend our previous results based on constant radial distributions o f the specific angular momentum along the equatorial plane. We introduce a new way to prescribe the distribution of the disks angular momentum based on a combination of two previous proposals and compute the angular momentum distribution outside the equatorial plane by resorting to the construction of von Zeipel cylinders. We find that the effect of the scalar hair on the black hole spacetime can yield significant differences in the disk morphology and properties compared to what is found if the spacetime is purely Kerr. Some of the tori built within the most extreme, background hairy black hole spacetime of our sample exhibit the appearance of two maxima in the gravitational energy density which impacts the radial profile distributions of the disks thermodynamical quantities. The models reported in this paper can be used as initial data for numerical evolutions with GRMHD codes to study their stability properties. Moreover, they can be employed as illuminating sources to build shadows of Kerr black holes with scalar hair which might help further constrain the no-hair hypothesis as new observational data is collected.
We study the metric backreaction of mass and angular momentum accretion on black holes. We first develop the formalism of monopole and dipole linear gravitational perturbations around the Schwarzschild black holes in the Eddington-Finkelstein coordin ates against the generic time-dependent matters. We derive the relation between the time dependence of the mass and angular momentum of the black hole and the energy-momentum tensors of accreting matters. As a concrete example, we apply our formalism to the Blandford-Znajek process around the slowly rotating black holes. We find that the time dependence of the monopole and dipole perturbations can be interpreted as the slowly rotating Kerr metric with time-dependent mass and spin parameters, which are determined from the energy and angular momentum extraction rates of the Blandford-Znajek process. We also show that the Komar angular momentum and the area of the apparent horizon are decreasing and increasing in time, respectively, while they are consistent with the Blandford-Znajek argument of energy extraction in term of black hole mechanics if we regard the time-dependent mass parameter as the energy of the black hole.
