First measurement of the beam asymmetry $Sigma$ for Compton scattering off the proton in the energy range $E_{gamma}=0.85 - 1.25$ GeV is presented. The data reveals two narrow structures at $E_{gamma}= 1.036$ and $E_{gamma}=1.119$ GeV. They may signal narrow resonances with masses near $1.68$ and $1.72$ GeV, or they may be generated by the sub-threshold $KLambda$ and $omega p$ production. Their decisive identification requires additional theoretical and experimental efforts.

New results on quasi-free $eta$ photoproduction on the neutron and proton bound in a deuteron target are presented. The $gamma n to eta n$ quasi-free cross section reveals a bump-like structure which is not seen in the cross section on the proton. Th is structure may signal the existence of a relatively narrow ($Msim 1.68$ GeV, $Gamma leq 30$ MeV) baryon state.
We present final results on the photon electroproduction ($vec{e}prightarrow epgamma$) cross section in the deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) regime and the valence quark region from Jefferson Lab experiment E00-110. Results from an analysis o f a subset of these data were published before, but the analysis has been improved which is described here at length, together with details on the experimental setup. Furthermore, additional data have been analyzed resulting in photon electroproduction cross sections at new kinematic settings, for a total of 588 experimental bins. Results of the $Q^2$- and $x_B$-dependences of both the helicity-dependent and helicity-independent cross sections are discussed. The $Q^2$-dependence illustrates the dominance of the twist-2 handbag amplitude in the kinematics of the experiment, as previously noted. Thanks to the excellent accuracy of this high luminosity experiment, it becomes clear that the unpolarized cross section shows a significant deviation from the Bethe-Heitler process in our kinematics, compatible with a large contribution from the leading twist-2 DVCS$^2$ term to the photon electroproduction cross section. The necessity to include higher-twist corrections in order to fully reproduce the shape of the data is also discussed. The DVCS cross sections in this paper represent the final set of experimental results from E00-110, superseding the previous publication.
The unpolarized and polarized Beam Char-ge Asymmetries (BCAs) of the $vv{e}^{pm}p to e^{pm}p gamma$ process off unpolarized hydrogen are discussed. The measurement of BCAs with the CLAS12 spectrometer at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Faci lity, using polarized positron and electron beams at 10.6 GeV is investigated. This experimental configuration allows to measure azimuthal and $t$-dependences of the unpolarized and polarized BCAs over a large $(x_B,Q^2)$ phase space, providing a direct access to the real part of the Compton Form Factor (CFF) ${mathcal H}$. Additionally, these measurements confront the Bethe-Heitler dominance hypothesis and eventual effects beyond leading twist. The impact of potential positron beam data on the determination of CFFs is also investigated within a local fitting approach of experimental observables. Positron data are shown to strongly reduce correlations between CFFs and consequently improve significantly the determination of $Re {rm e} [mathcal{H}]$.

Compton scattering from the proton was investigated at s=6.9 (GeV/c)**2 and t=-4.0 (GeV/c)**2 via polarization transfer from circularly polarized incident photons. The longitudinal and transverse components of the recoil proton polarization were meas ured. The results are in excellent agreement with a prediction based on a reaction mechanism in which the photon interacts with a single quark carrying the spin of the proton and in disagreement with a prediction of pQCD based on a two-gluon exchange mechanism.
