We present a testbed for exploring novel smart refrigerator interactions, and identify three key adoption-limiting interaction shortcomings of state-of-the-art smart fridges: lack of 1) user experience focus, 2) low-intrusion object recognition and 2) automatic item position detection. Our testbed system addresses these limitations by a combination of sensors, software filters, architectural components and a RESTful API to track interaction events in real-time, and retrieve current state and historical data to learn patterns and recommend user actions. We evaluate the accuracy and overhead of our system in a realistic interaction flow. The accuracy was measured to 83-88% and the overhead compared to a representative state-of-the-art barcode scanner improved by 27%. We also showcase two applications built on top of our testbed, one for finding expired items and ingredients of dishes; and one to monitor your health. The pattern that these applications have in common is that they cast the interaction as an item-recommendation problem triggered when the user takes something out. Our testbed could help reveal further user-experience centric interaction patterns and new classes of applications for smart fridges that inherently, by relying on our testbed primitives, mitigate the issues with existing approaches.

We have seen significant advancements in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the 21st century. It has enabled a new technology where we can have a human-like conversation with the machines. The most significant use of this speech recognit ion and contextual understanding technology exists in the form of a Smart Speaker. We have a wide variety of Smart Speaker products available to us. This paper aims to decode its creation and explain the technology that makes these Speakers, Smart.
To enhance the mobility and convenience of the campus community, we designed and implemented the Pulse system, a visual interface for communicating the crowd information to the lay public including campus members and visitors. This is a challenging t ask which requires analyzing and reconciling the demands and interests for data as well as visual design among diverse target audiences. Through an iterative design progress, we study and address the diverse preferences of the lay audiences, whereby design rationales are distilled. The final prototype combines a set of techniques such as chart junk and redundancy encoding. Initial feedback from a wide audience confirms the benefits and attractiveness of the system.
The kitchen is regarded as the central unit of the traditional as well as modern homes. It is where people cook meals and where our families sit together to eat food. The refrigerator is the pivotal of all that, and hence it plays an important part i n our regular lives. The idea of this project is to improvise the normal refrigerator into a smart one by making it to place order for food items and to create an virtual interactive environment between it and the user.
People have the ability to make sensible assumptions about other peoples emotional states by being sympathetic, and because of our common sense of knowledge and the ability to think visually. Over the years, much research has been done on providing m achines with the ability to detect human emotions and to develop automated emotional intelligence systems. The computers ability to detect human emotions is gaining popularity in creating sensitive systems such as learning environments, health care systems and real-world. Improving peoples health has been the subject of much research. This paper describes the formation as conceptual evidence of emotional acquisition and control in intelligent health settings. The authors of this paper aim for an unconventional approach with a friendly look to get emotional scenarios from the system to establish a functional, non-intrusive and emotionally-sensitive environment where users can do their normal activities naturally and see the program only when pleasant mood activating services are received. The context-sensitive system interacts with users to detect and differentiate emotions through facial expressions or speech recognition, to make music recommendations and mood color treatments with the services installed on their IoT devices.
We present a model/executable specification of smart contract execution in Coq. Our formalization allows for inter-contract communication and generalizes existing work by allowing modelling of both depth-first execution blockchains (like Ethereum) an d breadth-first execution blockchains (like Tezos). We represent smart contracts programs in Coqs functional language Gallina, enabling easier reasoning about functional correctness of concrete contracts than other approaches. In particular we develop a Congress contract in this style. This contract -- a simplified version of the infamous DAO -- is interesting because of its very dynamic communication pattern with other contracts. We give a high-level partial specification of the Congresss behavior, related to reentrancy, and prove that the Congress satisfies it for all possible smart contract execution orders.
