In this paper, we prove a classification theorem of 4-manifolds according to some conformal invariants, which generalizes the conformally invariant sphere theorem of Chang-Gursky-Yang cite{CGY}. Moreover, it provides a four-dimensional analogue of the well-known classification theorem of Schoen-Yau cite{SY2} on 3-manifolds with positive Yamabe invariants.

The requirement that a (non-Einstein) Kahler metric in any given complex dimension $m>2$ be almost-everywhere conformally Einstein turns out to be much more restrictive, even locally, than in the case of complex surfaces. The local biholomorphic-isom etry types of such metrics depend, for each $m>2$, on three real parameters along with an arbitrary Kahler-Einstein metric $h$ in complex dimension $m-1$. We provide an explicit description of all these local-isometry types, for any given $h$. That result is derived from a more general local classification theorem for metrics admitting functions we call {it special Kahler-Ricci potentials}.
This paper is devoted to the classification of 4-dimensional Riemannian spin manifolds carrying skew Killing spinors. A skew Killing spinor $psi$ is a spinor that satisfies the equation $ abla$X$psi$ = AX $times$ $psi$ with a skew-symmetric endomorph ism A. We consider the degenerate case, where the rank of A is at most two everywhere and the non-degenerate case, where the rank of A is four everywhere. We prove that in the degenerate case the manifold is locally isometric to the Riemannian product R x N with N having a skew Killing spinor and we explain under which conditions on the spinor the special case of a local isometry to S 2 x R 2 occurs. In the non-degenerate case, the existence of skew Killing spinors is related to doubly warped products whose defining data we will describe.
We show that the emerging field of discrete differential geometry can be usefully brought to bear on crystallization problems. In particular, we give a simplified proof of the Heitmann-Radin crystallization theorem (R. C. Heitmann, C. Radin, J. Stat. Phys. 22, 281-287, 1980), which concerns a system of $N$ identical atoms in two dimensions interacting via the idealized pair potential $V(r)=+infty$ if $r<1$, $-1$ if $r=1$, $0$ if $r>1$. This is done by endowing the bond graph of a general particle configuration with a suitable notion of {it discrete curvature}, and appealing to a {it discrete Gauss-Bonnet theorem} (O. Knill, Elem. Math. 67, 1-17, 2012) which, as its continuous cousins, relates the sum/integral of the curvature to topological invariants. This leads to an exact geometric decomposition of the Heitmann-Radin energy into (i) a combinatorial bulk term, (ii) a combinatorial perimeter, (iii) a multiple of the Euler characteristic, and (iv) a natural topological energy contribution due to defects. An analogous exact geometric decomposition is also established for soft potentials such as the Lennard-Jones potential $V(r)=r^{-6}-2r^{-12}$, where two additional contributions arise, (v) elastic energy and (vi) energy due to non-bonded interactions.
We establish a new criterion for a compatible almost complex structure on a symplectic four-manifold to be integrable and hence Kahler. Our main theorem shows that the existence of three linearly independent closed J-anti-invariant two-forms implies the integrability of the almost complex structure. This proves the conjecture of Draghici-Li-Zhang in the almost-Kahler case
