We give a convenient expression for the appearance probability P(nu_mu -> nu_e) describing neutrino oscillations in matter of constant density, derived using textbook quantum mechanics stratagems. Our formulation retains the clarity of an expansion in alpha = Delta m_{21}^2/Delta m_{31}^2 exhibited by the popular Cervera et al. formula [Nucl. Phys. B 579, 17 (2000)] while enabling more accurate evaluation of oscillations over terrestrial baselines.

A search for nu_mu -> nu_e oscillations has been conducted at the Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility using nu_mu from pi^+ decay in flight. An excess in the number of beam-related events from the C(nu_e,e^-)X inclusive reaction is observed. The excess is too large to be explained by normal nu_e contamination in the beam at a confidence level greater than 99%. If interpreted as an oscillation signal, the observed oscillation probability of (2.6 +- 1.0 +- 0.5) x 10^{-3} is consistent with the previously reported nu_mu_bar -> nu_e_bar oscillation evidence from LSND.
Multiring signatures of the oscillation nu_mu --> nu_e are formulated for a water Cherenkov detector. These are appropriate for relatively high neutrino energies (over 2 GeV) that emphasize the matter effect and, therefore, may allow to measure the sign of the atmospheric mass-squared difference.
Neutrino oscillations are now a well-stablished and deeply studied phenomena. Their mixing parameters, except for the CP phase, are measured with good accuracy. The three-neutrino oscillation picture in matter is currently of great interest due to th e different long-baseline neutrino experiments that are already running or under construction. In this work, we reanalyze the exact expression for the neutrino probabilities (in a constant density medium) and introduce an approximate formula. Our results are shown in a formulation that is independent of the parametrization and could be useful for unitary tests of the leptonic mixing matrix. We illustrate how the approximation, besides being simple, can reproduce the neutrino probabilities with good accuracy.

In this paper we calculate the power corrections to the pion transition form factor within the framework of perturbative QCD approach on the basis of $k_T$ factorization. The power suppressed contributions from higher twist pion wave functions and th e hadronic structure of photon are investigated. We find that there exists strong cancellation between the two kinds contributions, thus the total power corrections considered currently are very small, and the prediction of the leading power contribution with joint resummation improved perturbative QCD approach is almost unchanged. This result confirms that the pion transition form factor is a good platform to constrain the nonperturbative parameters in pion wave functions. Moreover, our result can accommodate the anomalous data from BaBar, or agrees with results from Belle according to the choice of Gegebauer moment in the pion wave function, and the more precise experimental data from Belle-II is expected.

We have observed $23.2 pm 6.0_{-0.9}^{+1.0}$ purely-leptonic decays of $D_s^+ -> mu^+ u_mu$ from a sample of muonic one prong decay events detected in the emulsion target of Fermilab experiment E653. Using the $D_s^+ -> phi mu^+ u_mu$ yield measure d previously in this experiment, we obtain $B(D_s^+ --> mu^+ u_mu) / B(D_s^+ --> phi mu^+ u_mu) =0.16 pm 0.06 pm 0.03$. In addition, we extract the decay constant $f_{D_s}=194 pm 35 pm 20 pm 14 MeV$.
