In view of the latest T2K and MINOS neutrino oscillation data which hint at a relatively large theta_13, we perform a systematic study of the Majorana neutrino mass matrix M_nu with two independent texture zeros. We show that three neutrino masses (m_1, m_2, m_3) and three CP-violating phases (delta, rho, sigma) can fully be determined from two neutrino mass-squared differences (delta m^2, Delta m^2) and three flavor mixing angles (theta_12, theta_23, theta_13). We find that seven patterns of M_nu (i.e., A_{1,2}, B_{1,2,3,4} and C) are compatible with current experimental data at the 3-sigma level, but the parameter space of each pattern is more strictly constrained than before. We demonstrate that the texture zeros of M_nu are stable against the one-loop quantum corrections, and there exists a permutation symmetry between Patterns A_1 and A_2, B_1 and B_2 or B_3 and B_4. Phenomenological implications of M_nu on the neutrinoless double-beta decay and leptonic CP violation are discussed, and a realization of those texture zeros by means of the Z_n flavor symmetries is illustrated.

The Majorana neutrino mass matrix combines information from the neutrino masses and the leptonic mixing in the flavor basis. Its invariance under some transformation matrices indicates the existence of certain residual symmetry. We offer an intuitive display of the structure of the Majorana neutrino mass matrix, using the whole set of the oscillation data. The structure is revealed depending on the lightest neutrino mass. We find that there are three regions with distinct characteristics of structure. A group effect and the $mu$-$tau$ exchange symmetry are observed. Six types of texture non-zeros are shown. Implications for flavor models are discussed.
The recent enormous improvement of our knowledge of the neutrino oscillation parameters has motivated us to reinvestigate the allowed ranges of the elements of the neutrino mass matrix in the basis where the charged-lepton mass mass matrix is diagona l. Moreover, we have studied the correlations of the elements of the neutrino mass matrix. The result of this analysis is useful for finding textures in the neutrino mass matrix and, therefore, for model building in the lepton sector. As an example, we present two textures of the neutrino mass matrix which have only two parameters and fit very well all current experimental data on the neutrino parameters.
We study the possibility of probing different texture zero neutrino mass matrices at long baseline neutrino experiment DUNE. Assuming a diagonal charged lepton basis and Majorana nature of light neutrinos, we first classify the possible light neutrin o mass matrices with one and two texture zeros and then numerically evaluate the parameter space in terms of atmospheric mixing angle $theta_{23}$ and Dirac CP phase $delta_{text{CP}}$ which satisfies the texture zero conditions. We then feed these parameter values into the numerical analysis in order to study the sensitivity of DUNE experiment to them. We find that the DUNE will be able to exclude some of these texture zero mass matrices which restrict the $(theta_{23}-delta_{text{CP}})$ to a very specific range of values.
The residual symmetry approach, along with a complex extension for some flavor invariance, is a powerful tool to uncover the flavor structure of the $3times3$ neutrino Majorana mass matrix $M_ u$ towards gaining insights into neutrino mixing. We util ize this to propose a complex extension of the real scaling ansatz for $M_ u$ which was introduced some years ago. Unlike the latter, our proposal allows a nonzero mass for each of the three light neutrinos as well as a nonvanishing $theta_{13}$. A major result of this scheme is that leptonic Dirac CP-violation must be maximal while atmospheric neutrino mixing need not be exactly maximal. Moreover, each of the two allowed Majorana phases, to be probed by the search for nuclear $0 u betabeta$ decay, has to be at one of its two CP-conserving values. There are other interesting consequences such as the allowed occurrence of a normal mass ordering which is not favored by the real scaling ansatz. Our predictions will be tested in ongoing and future neutrino oscillation experiments at T2K, NO$ u$A and DUNE.
We analyze the different parametrizations of a general four-zero texture mass matrices for quarks and leptons, that are able to reproduce the CKM and PMNS mixing matrices. This study is done through a Chi-Square analysis. In quark sector, only four s olutions are found to be compatible with CKM mixing matrix. In leptonic sector, using the last experimental results about the mixing angles in the neutrino sector, our Chi-Square analysis shows a preferred value for m_nu_3 to be around 0.05 eV independently of the parametrization of the four-zero texture mass matrices chosen for the charged leptons and neutrinos.
