In the scenario of cold electroweak baryogenesis, oscillations of the Higgs field lead to metastable domains of unbroken phase where the Higgs field nearly vanishes. Those domains have also been identified with the $W-t-bar{t}$ bags, a non-topological soliton made of large number ($sim 1000$) of gauge quanta and heavy (top and anti-top) quarks. As real-time numerical studies had shown, sphalerons (topological transition events violating the baryon number) occur only inside those bags. In this work we estimate the amount of CP violation in this scenario coming from the Standard Model, via the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) quark mixing matrix, resulting in top-minus-antitop difference of the population in the bags. Since these tops/anti-tops are recycled by sphalerons, this population difference leads directly to the baryonic asymmetry of the Universe. We look at the effect appearing in the 4th order in weak $W$ diagrams describing interference of different quark flavor contributions. We found that there are multiple cancellations of diagrams and clearly sign-definite effect appears only in the 6th order expansion over flavor-dependent phases. We then estimate contributions to these diagrams in which weak interaction occurs (i) inside, (ii) near and (iii) far from the $W-t-bar{t}$ b-bags, optimizing the contributions in each of them. We conclude that the second (near) scenario is the dominant one, producing CP violation of the order of $10^{-10}$, in our crude estimates. Together with the baryon violation rate of about $10^{-2}$, previously demonstrated for this scenario, it puts the resulting asymmetry close to what is needed to explain the observed baryonic asymmetry in the Universe. Our answer also has a definite sign, which apparently seems to be the correct one.

We discuss how the cosmological baryon asymmetry can be achieved by the lepton family asymmetries of heavy Majorana neutrino decays and they are related to CP violation in neutrino oscillation, in the minimal seesaw model with two heavy Majorana neut rinos. We derive the most general formula for CP violation in neutrino oscillation in terms of the heavy Majorana masses and Yukawa mass term. It is shown that the formula is very useful to classify several models in which $e-$, $mu-$ and $tau-$leptogenesis can be separately realized and to see how they are connected with low energy CP violaton. To make the models predictive, we take texture with two zeros in the Dirac neutrino Yukawa matrix. In particular, we find some interesting cases in which CP violation in neutrino oscillation can happen while lepton family asymmetries do not exist at all. On the contrary, we can find $e-$, $mu-$ and $tau-$leptogenesis scenarios in which the cosmological CP violation and low energy CP violation measurable via neutrino oscillations are very closely related to each other. By determining the allowed ranges of the parameters in the models, we predict the sizes of CP violation in neutrino oscillation and $|V_{e3}^{MNS}|$. Finally, the leptonic unitarity triangles are reconstructed.
Using the worldline method, we derive an effective action of the bosonic sector of the Standard Model by integrating out the fermionic degrees of freedom. The CP violation stemming from the complex phase in the CKM matrix gives rise to CP-violating o perators in the one-loop effective action in the next-to-leading order of a gradient expansion. We calculate the prefactor of the appropriate operators and give general estimates of CP violation in the bosonic sector of the Standard Model. In particular, we show that the effective CP violation for weak gauge fields is not suppressed by the Yukawa couplings of the light quarks and is much larger than the bound given by the Jarlskog determinant.

We find that, at the one-loop level, the spontaneous CP violation is possible in a supersymmetric standard model that has an extra chiral Higgs triplet with hypercharge Y=0. At the tree level, this triplet-extended supersymmetric standard model (TESS M) cannot have any reasonable parameter spaces for the spontaneous CP violation, because the experimental constraints on the coupling coefficient of the neutral Higgs boson to a pair of $Z$ bosons exclude them. By contrast, at the one-loop level, we find that there are experimentally allowed parameter regions, where the spontaneous CP violation may take place. The mass of the lightest neutral Higgs boson in the TESSM in this case may be as large as about 100 GeV, by considering the one-loop contribution due to the top quark and squark loops.
I review the status of CP violation in the Standard Model from the combination of flavour constraints within the CKMfitter frequentist approach and I describe studies of New Physics restricted to the Delta F=2 sector to explain recent results on neut ral-meson mixing. All results have been obtained using data available for the Winter 2012 conferences.
We present the invited lectures given at the Third IDPASC School which took place in Santiago de Compostela in January 2013. The students attending the school had very different backgrounds, some of them were doing their Ph.D. in experimental particl e physics, others in theory. As a result, and in order to make the lectures useful for most of the students, we focused on basic topics of broad interest, avoiding the more technical aspects of Flavour Physics and CP Violation. We make a brief review of the Standard Model, paying special attention to the generation of fermion masses and mixing, as well as to CP violation. We describe some of the simplest extensions of the SM, emphasising novel flavour aspects which arise in their framework.
