Elastic scattering observables (differential cross section and analyzing power) are calculated for the reaction $^6$He(p,p)$^6$He at projectile energies starting at 71 MeV/nucleon. The optical potential needed to describe the reaction is derived describing $^6$He in terms of a $^4$He-core and two neutrons. The Watson first order multiple scattering ansatz is extended to accommodate the internal dynamics of a composite cluster model for the $^6$He nucleus scattering from a nucleon projectile. The calculations are compared with the recent experiments at the projectile energy of 71 MeV/nucleon. In addition, differential cross sections and analyzing powers are calculated at selected higher energies.

Elastic scattering observables (differential cross section and analyzing power) are calculated for the reaction $^6$He(p,p)$^6$He at projectile energies starting at 71 MeV/nucleon. The optical potential needed to describe the reaction is based on a m icroscopic Watson first-order folding potential, which explicitly takes into account that the two neutrons outside the $^4$He-core occupy an open p-shell. The folding of the single-particle harmonic oscillator density matrix with the nucleon-nucleon t-matrix leads for this case to new terms not present in traditional folding optical potentials for closed shell nuclei. The effect of those new terms on the elastic scattering observables is investigated. Furthermore, the influence of an exponential tail of the p-shell wave functions on the scattering observables is studied, as well as the sensitivity of the observables to variations of matter and charge radius. Finally elastic scattering observables for the reaction $^8$He(p,p)$^8$He are presented at selected projectile energies.
We apply the cluster-folding (CF) model for $vec{p}+^{6}$He scattering at 200 MeV, where the potential between $vec{p}$ and $^{4}$He is fitted to data on $vec{p}+^{4}$He scattering at 200 MeV. For $vec{p}+^{6}$He scattering at 200 MeV, the CF model r eproduces measured differential cross section with no free parameter, We then predict the analyzing power $A_y(q)$ with the CF model, where $q$ is the transfer momentum. Johnson, Al-Khalili and Tostevin construct a theory for one-neutron halo scattering, taking (1) the adiabatic approximation and (2) neglecting the interaction between a valence neutron and a target, and yield a simple relationship between the elastic scattering of a halo nucleus and of its core under certain conditions. We improve their theory with (3) the eikonal approximation in order to determine $A_y(q)$ for $^{6}$He from the data on $A_y(q)$ for $^{4}$He. The improved theory is accurate, when approximation (1)--(3) are good. Among the three approximations, approximation (2) is most essential. The CF model shows that approximation (2) is good in $0.9 < q < 2.4$ fm$^{-1}$. In the improved theory, the $A_y(q)$ for $^{6}$He is the same as that for $^{4}$He. In $0.9 < q < 2.4$ fm$^{-1}$, we then predict $A_y(q)$ for $vec{p}+^{6}$He scattering at 200 MeV from measured $A_y(q)$ for $vec{p}+^{4}$He scattering at 200 MeV. We thus predict $A_y(q)$ with the model-dependent and the model-independent prescription. The ratio of differential cross sections measured for $^{6}$He to that for $^{4}$He is related to the wave function of $^{6}$He. We then determine the radius between $^{4}$He and the center-of-mass of valence two neutrons in $^{6}$He. The radius is 5.77 fm.

The bound state of uclide[6][LambdaLambda]{He} is studied as a three-body ($LambdaLambdaalpha$) system in a cluster effective field theory at leading order (LO). We find that the system exhibits the limit cycle which is associated with the formation of bound states called the Efimov states. This implies that the three-body contact interaction should be promoted to LO. The relationship of the binding energy and the $LambdaLambda$ scattering length is discussed as well as the role of the scale in this system.
Information on the equation of state (EOS) of neutron matter may be gained from studies of 208Pb. Descriptions of 208Pb require credible models of structure, taking particular note also of the spectrum. Such may be tested by analyses of scattering da ta. Herein, we report on such analyses using an RPA model for 208Pb in a folding model of the scattering. No a posteriori adjustment of parameters are needed to obtain excellent agreement with data. From those analyses, the skin thickness of 208Pb is constrained to lie in the range 0.13-0.17 fm.

A multi-channel algebraic scattering (MCAS) method has been used to solve coupled sets of Lippmann-Schwinger equations for the $alpha$+${}^6$He cluster system, so finding a model spectrum for ${}^{10}$Be to more than 10 MeV excitation. Three states o f ${}^6$He are included and the resonance character of the two excited states taken into account in finding solutions. A model Hamiltonian has been found that gives very good agreement with the known bound states and with some low-lying resonances of ${}^{10}$Be. More resonance states are predicted than have as yet been observed. The method also yields $S$-matrices which we have used to evaluate low-energy ${}^6$He-$alpha$ scattering cross sections. Reasonable reproduction of low-energy differential cross sections and of energy variation of cross sections measured at fixed scattering angles is found.
