We report on the observation of a new spin mode in a quantum Hall system in the vicinity of odd electron filling factors under experimental conditions excluding the possibility of Skyrmion excitations. The new mode having presumably zero energy at odd filling factors emerges at small deviations from odd filling factors and couples to the spin-exciton. The existence of an extra spin mode assumes a nontrivial magnetic order at partial fillings of Landau levels surrounding quantum Hall ferromagnets other then the Skyrmion crystal.

It is shown that the collective spin rotation of a single Skyrmion in quantum Hall ferromagnet can be regarded as precession of the entire spin texture in the external magnetic field, with an effective moment of inertia which becomes infinite in the zero g-factor limit. This low-lying spin excitation may dramatically enhance the nuclear spin relaxation rate via the hyperfine interaction in the quantum well slightly away from filling factor equal one.

We study the influences of antidot-induced bound states on transport properties of two- dimensional quantum spin Hall insulators. The bound statesare found able to induce quantum percolation in the originally insulating bulk. At some critical antidot densities, the quantum spin Hall phase can be completely destroyed due to the maximum quantum percolation. For systems with periodic boundaries, the maximum quantum percolationbetween the bound states creates intermediate extended states in the bulk which is originally gapped and insulating. The antidot in- duced bound states plays the same role as the magnetic field inthe quantum Hall effect, both makes electrons go into cyclotron motions. We also draw an analogy between the quantum percolation phenomena in this system and that in the network models of quantum Hall effect.
The Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI), favoring a chiral spin structure like the skyrmion, gives rise to the nonreciprocal propagation of spin waves. We investigate the propagation of spin waves in a nanostripe with the presence of a skyrmion c hain by using micromagnetic simulations. Through applying a microwave locally, it is found that when the interval between skyrmions is large enough, the spin waves can be separated to the counter direction according to different frequencies. While for the tightly arranged skyrmions, the skyrmion chain with strong interactions between skyrmions becomes a channel for spin waves, which is around the frequency of skyrmion breathing and exhibit a characteristic of directional propagation. This work opens a vista for skyrmion-based spin wave devices.
We study spin wave relaxation in quantum Hall ferromagnet regimes. Spin-orbit coupling is considered as a factor determining spin nonconservation, and external random potential as a cause of energy dissipation making spin-flip processes irreversible. We compare this relaxation mechanism with other relaxation channels existing in a quantum Hall ferromagnet.
We study numerically the charge conductance distributions of disordered quantum spin-Hall (QSH) systems using a quantum network model. We have found that the conductance distribution at the metal-QSH insulator transition is clearly different from tha t at the metal-ordinary insulator transition. Thus the critical conductance distribution is sensitive not only to the boundary condition but also to the presence of edge states in the adjacent insulating phase. We have also calculated the point-contact conductance. Even when the two-terminal conductance is approximately quantized, we find large fluctuations in the point-contact conductance. Furthermore, we have found a semi-circular relation between the average of the point-contact conductance and its fluctuation.
