We numerically study trajectories of spiral-wave-cores in excitable systems modulated proportionally to the integral of the activity on the straight line, several or dozens of equi-spaced measuring points on the straight line, the double-line and the contour-line. We show the single-line feedback results in the drift of core center along a straight line being parallel to the detector. An interesting finding is that the drift location in $y$ is a piecewise linear-increasing function of both the feedback line location and time delay. Similar trajectory occurs when replacing the feedback line with several or dozens of equi-spaced measuring points on the straight line. This allows to move the spiral core to the desired location along a chosen direction by measuring several or dozens of points. Under the double-line feedback, the shape of the tip trajectory representing the competition between the first and second feedback lines is determined by the distance of two lines. Various drift attractors in spiral wave controlled by square-shaped contour-line feedback are also investigated. A brief explanation is presented.

We consider open quantum systems weakly coupled to thermal reservoirs and subjected to quantum feedback operations triggered with or without delay by monitored quantum jumps. We establish a thermodynamic description of such system and analyze how the first and second law of thermodynamics are modified by the feedback. We apply our formalism to study the efficiency of a qubit subjected to a quantum feedback control and operating as a heat pump between two reservoirs. We also demonstrate that quantum feedbacks can be used to stabilize coherences in nonequilibrium stationary states which in some cases may even become pure quantum states.

We study the evolution of a reactive field advected by a one-dimensional compressible velocity field and subject to an ignition-type nonlinearity. In the limit of small molecular diffusivity the problem can be described by a spatially discretized sys tem, and this allows for an efficient numerical simulation. If the initial field profile is supported in a region of size l < lc one has quenching, i.e., flame extinction, where lc is a characteristic length-scale depending on the system parameters (reacting time, molecular diffusivity and velocity field). We derive an expression for lc in terms of these parameters and relate our results to those obtained by other authors for different flow settings.
We study the stroboscopic dynamics of a spin-$S$ object subjected to $delta$-function kicking in the transverse magnetic field which is generated following the Fibonacci sequence. The corresponding classical Hamiltonian map is constructed in the larg e spin limit, $S rightarrow infty$. Upon evolving such a map for large kicking strength and time period, the phase space appears to be chaotic; interestingly, however, the geodesic distance increases linearly with the stroboscopic time implying that the Lyapunov exponent is zero. We derive the Sutherland invariant for the underlying $SO(3)$ matrix governing the dynamics of classical spin variables and study the orbits for weak kicking strength. For the quantum dynamics, we observe that although the phase coherence of a state is retained throughout the time evolution, the fluctuations in the mean values of the spin operators exhibit fractality which is also present in the Floquet eigenstates. Interestingly, the presence of an interaction with another spin results in an ergodic dynamics leading to infinite temperature thermalization.
We consider a modification of the well studied Hamiltonian Mean-Field model by introducing a hard-core point-like repulsive interaction and propose a numerical integration scheme to integrate numerically its dynamics. Our results show that the outcom e of the initial violent relaxation is altered, and also that the phase-diagram is modified with a critical temperature at a higher value than in the non-collisional counterpart.
We present a computer-assisted approach to coarse-graining the evolutionary dynamics of a system of nonidentical oscillators coupled through a (fixed) network structure. The existence of a spectral gap for the coupling network graph Laplacian suggest s that the graph dynamics may quickly become low-dimensional. Our first choice of coarse variables consists of the components of the oscillator states -their (complex) phase angles- along the leading eigenvectors of this Laplacian. We then use the equation-free framework [1], circumventing the derivation of explicit coarse-grained equations, to perform computational tasks such as coarse projective integration, coarse fixed point and coarse limit cycle computations. In a second step, we explore an approach to incorporating oscillator heterogeneity in the coarse-graining process. The approach is based on the observation of fastdeveloping correlations between oscillator state and oscillator intrinsic properties, and establishes a connection with tools developed in the context of uncertainty quantification.
