Renormalization of non-magnetic impurity potential by strong electron correlation is investigated in detail. We adopt the t-t-t-J model and consider mainly a delta-function impurity potential. The variational Monte Carlo method shows that impurity potential scattering matrix elements between Gutzwiller-projected quasi-particle excited states are as strongly renormalized as the hopping terms. Such renormalization is also seen by the Bogoliubov-de Gennes equation with an impurity, where the strong correlation is treated by a Gutzwiller mean-field theory with local Gutzwiller factors and local chemical potentials. Namely, the delta-function potential is effectively weakened and broadened. We emphasize the importance of including the local chemical potential, which is paid little attention to in the literature, by physical consideration of the doping dependence of a local hole density. We also investigate effect of smooth impurity potential variation; the strong correlation yields anticorrelation between the gap energy and the coherence peak height simultaneously with large gap distribution, which is consistent with the experiments.

Electron-phonon and electron-electron interactions are in competition in determining the properties of molecular charge transfer conductors and superconductors. The direct influence of phonons on the electron-electron interaction was not before consi dered and in the present work the coupling of intramolecular modes to electron-electron interaction (U-vib interaction) is investigated. The effect of this coupling on the frequency of the normal modes of a dimer model is obtained and it is shown that frequency shifts of the Raman active modes are directly related to this coupling. The results are used to obtain the values of the U-vib coupling constants of intramolecular modes of a representative molecule of charge transfer conductors, like tetramethyltetratiafulvalene. Consequences of this coupling on the electron pairing are also suggested.

We have performed an angle-resolved photoemission study of the hole-overdoped iron pnictide superconductor KFe2As2, which shows a low Tc of ~4 K. Most of the observed Fermi surfaces show nearly two-dimensional shapes, while a band near the Fermi leve l shows a strong dispersion along the kz direction and forms a small three-dimensional hole pocket centered at the Z point, as predicted by band-structure calculation. However, hole Fermi surfaces of yz and zx orbital character centered at the Gamma point of the two-dimensional Brillouin zone are smaller than those predicted by the calculation while the other hole Fermi surfaces of xy orbital character is much larger. Clover-shaped hole Fermi surfaces around the corner of the 2D BZ are also larger than those predicted by the calculation. These observations are consistent with the de Haas-van Alphen measurement and indicate orbital-dependent electron correlation effects. The effective masses of the energy bands show moderate to strong enhancement, partly due to electron correlation and partly due to energy shifts from the calculated band structure.

We present a tree tensor-network impurity solver suited for general multiorbital systems. The network is constructed to efficiently capture the entanglement structure and symmetry of an impurity problem. The solver works directly on the real-time/fre quency axis and generates spectral functions with energy-independent resolution of the order of one percent of the correlated bandwidth. Combined with an optimized representation of the impurity bath, it efficiently solves self-consistent dynamical mean-field equations and calculates various dynamical correlation functions for systems with off-diagonal Greens functions. For the archetypal correlated Hunds metal Sr$_2$RuO$_4$, we show that both the low-energy quasiparticle spectra related to the van Hove singularity and the high-energy atomic multiplet excitations can be faithfully resolved. In particular, we show that while the spin-orbit coupling has only minor effects on the orbital-diagonal one-particle spectral functions, it has a more profound impact on the low-energy spin and orbital response functions.

Antiferromagnetism (AF) such as Neel ordering is often closely related to Coulomb interactions such as Hubbard repulsion in two-dimensional (2D) systems. Whether Neel AF ordering in 2D can be dominantly induced by electron-phonon couplings (EPC) has not been completely understood. Here, by employing numerically-exact sign-problem-free quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) simulations, we show that optical Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) phonons with frequency $omega$ and EPC constant $lambda$ can induce AF ordering for a wide range of phonon frequency $omega>omega_c$. For $omega<omega_c$, a valence-bond-solid (VBS) order appears and there is a direct quantum phase transition between VBS and AF phases at $omega_c$. The phonon mechanism of the AF ordering is related to the fact that SSH phonons directly couple to electron hopping whose second-order process can induce an effective AF spin exchange. Our results shall shed new lights to understanding AF ordering in correlated quantum materials.
We introduce an analysis model, an extended Drude-Lorentz model, and apply it to Fe-pnictide systems to extract their electron-boson spectral density functions (or correlation spectra). The extended Drude-Lorentz model consists of an extended Drude m ode for describing correlated charge carriers and Lorentz modes for interband transitions. The extended Drude mode can be obtained by a reverse process starting from the electron-boson spectral density function and extending to the optical self-energy, and eventually, to the optical conductivity. Using the extended Drude-Lorentz model, we obtained the electron-boson spectral density functions of K-doped BaFe$_2$As$_2$ (Ba-122) at four different doping levels. We discuss the doping-dependent properties of the electron-boson spectral density function of K-doped Ba-122. This new approach is very helpful for understanding and analyzing measured optical spectra of strongly correlation electron systems, including high-temperature superconductors (cuprates and Fe-pnictides).
