We derive a single-channel effective Kbar N interaction from chiral SU(3) coupled-channel dynamics, emphasizing the important role of the pi Sigma channel and the structure of the Lambda(1405) resonance. The chiral low energy theorem requires strongly attractive interaction not only in the Kbar N channel but also in the pi Sigma channel. As a consequence of the strong pi Sigma dynamics, the equivalent potential in single Kbar N channel turns out to be less attractive than the one used in a purely phenomenological approach.

The N*(1440) -> N pi pi decay is studied by making use of the chiral reduction formula. This formula suggests a scalar-isoscalar pion-baryon contact interaction which is absent in the recent study of Hern{a}ndez et al. The contact interaction is intr oduced into their model, and is found to be necessary for the simultaneous description of g_{RN pi pi} and the pi-pi and pi-N invariant mass distributions.

Song et al. [Phys. Rev. C 102, 065208 (2020)] presented results for the $Lambda_c N$ interaction based on an extrapolation of lattice simulations by the HAL QCD Collaboration at unphysical quark masses to the physical point via covariant chiral effec tive field theory. We point out that their predictions for the $^3D_1$ partial wave disagree with available lattice results. We discuss the origin of that disagreement and present a comparison with predictions from conventional (non-relativistic) chiral effective field theory.
The appearance of some papers dealing with the $K^- d to pi Sigma n$ reaction, with some discrepancies in the results and a proposal to measure the reaction at forward $n$ angles at J-PARC justifies to retake the theoretical study with high precision to make accurate predictions for the experiment and extract from there the relevant physical information. We do this in the present paper showing results using the Watson approach and the truncated Faddeev approach. We argue that the Watson approach is more suitable to study the reaction because it takes into account the potential energy of the nucleons forming the deuteron, which is neglected in the truncated Faddeev approach. Predictions for the experiment are done as well as spectra with the integrated neutron angle.
The near-threshold n p -> d pi0 cross section is calculated in chiral perturbation theory to next-to-leading order in the expansion parameter sqrt{M m_pi}/Lambda_chi. At this order irreducible pion loops contribute to the relevant pion-production ope rator. While their contribution to this operator is finite, considering initial-and final-state distortions produces a linear divergence in its matrix elements. We renormalize this divergence by introducing a counterterm, whose value we choose in order to reproduce the threshold n p -> d pi0 cross section measured at TRIUMF. The energy-dependence of this cross section is then predicted in chiral perturbation theory, being determined by the production of p-wave pions, and also by energy dependence in the amplitude for the production of s-wave pions. With an appropriate choice of the counterterm, the chiral prediction for this energy dependence converges well.

We derive a microscopic relativistic point-coupling model of nuclear many-body dynamics constrained by in-medium QCD sum rules and chiral symmetry. The effective Lagrangian is characterized by density dependent coupling strengths, determined by chira l one- and two-pion exchange and by QCD sum rule constraints for the large isoscalar nucleon self-energies that arise through changes of the quark condensate and the quark density at finite baryon density. This approach is tested in the analysis of the equations of state for symmetric and asymmetric nuclear matter, and of bulk and single-nucleon properties of finite nuclei. In comparison with purely phenomenological mean-field approaches, the built-in QCD constraints and the explicit treatment of pion exchange restrict the freedom in adjusting parameters and functional forms of density dependent couplings. It is shown that chiral (two-pion exchange) fluctuations play a prominent role for nuclear binding and saturation, whereas strong scalar and vector fields of about equal magnitude and opposite sign, induced by changes of the QCD vacuum in the presence of baryonic matter, generate the large effective spin-orbit potential in finite nuclei.
