We show that the open cluster Trumpler 20, contrary to the earlier findings, is actually an old Galactic open cluster. New CCD photometry and high-resolution spectroscopy are used to derive the main parameters of this cluster. At [Fe/H]=-0.11 for a single red giant star, the metallicity is slightly subsolar. The best fit to the color-magnitude diagrams is achieved using a 1.3 Gyr isochrone with convective overshoot. The cluster appears to have a significant reddening at E(B-V)=0.46 (for B0 spectral type), although for red giants this high reddening yields the color temperature exceeding the spectroscopic T_eff by about 200 K. Trumpler 20 is a very rich open cluster, containing at least 700 members brighter than M_V=+4. It may extend over the field-of-view available in our study at 20x20.

We present JHK near-infrared photometric study for the old open cluster (OC) Trumpler 5 (Tr 5), based on the 2MASS data. From the color-magnitude diagrams of Tr 5, we have located the position of the red giant clump (RGC) stars, and used the mean mag nitude of the RGC stars in K-band to estimate the distance to Tr 5, d = 3.1 +/- 0.1 kpc ((m-M)_0 = 12.46 +/- 0.04). From fitting the theoretical isochrones of Padova group, we have estimated the reddening, metallicity, and age : E(B-V) = 0.64 +/- 0.05, [Fe/H] = -0.4 +/- 0.1 dex, and t =2.8 +/- 0.2 Gyr (log t=9.45 +/- 0.04), respectively. These parameters generally agree well with those obtained from the previous studies on Tr 5 and confirms that this cluster is an old OC with metallicity being metal-poorer than solar abundance, located in the anti-Galactic center region.

We present a study, based on Gaia DR2, of the population of blue straggler stars (BSS) in the open clusters Trumpler 5, Trumpler 20, and NGC 2477. All candidates were selected according to their position in the color-magnitude diagram, to their prope r motion components, and to their parallax. We also looked for yellow stragglers, i.e., possible evolved blue stragglers. We found that Trumpler 5 hosts a large BSS population, which allowed us to analyze their radial distribution as a probe of the clusters dynamical status. The BSS distribution was compared with that of red giant branch stars (RGB) to evaluate mass segregation. Our results indicate that blue straggler stars are not more centrally concentrated than RGB stars in any of the clusters. The radial distribution of BSS in Trumpler 5 is flat. Additionally, using a multi-epoch radial velocity survey conducted with the high-resolution spectrograph FLAMES/GIRAFFE at VLT, we measured the radial velocities of a sample of stragglers, for the sake of comparison with the mean radial velocity and the velocity dispersion of the clusters. Based on the radial velocity variations for different epochs, we roughly classified these stars as possible close-or long-period binaries.
We have carried out multicolor linear polarimetry (UBVRI) of the brightest stars in the area of the open cluster Trumpler 27. Our data show a high level of polarization in the stellar light with a considerable dispersion, from $P = 4%$ to $P = 9.5%$. The polarization vectors of the cluster members appear to be aligned. Foreground polarization was estimated from the data of some non-member objects, for which two different components were resolved: the first one associated with a dust cloud close to the Sun producing $P_{lambda max}=1.3%$ and $theta=146$ degrees, and a second component, the main source of polarization for the cluster members, originated in another dust cloud, which polarizes the light in the direction of $theta= 29.5$ degrees. From a detailed analysis, we found that the two components have associated values $E_{B-V} < 0.45 $ for the first one, and $E_{B-V} > 0.75$ for the other. Due the difference in the orientation of both polarization vectors, almost 90 degrees (180 degrees at the Stokes representation), the first cloud ($theta sim 146$ degrees) depolarize the light strongly polarized by the second one ($theta sim 29.5$ degrees).

We present deep CCD BVI photometry of the distant, old open cluster Berkeley 22, covering from the red giants branch (RGB) to about 6 magnitudes below the main sequence (MS) turn-off. Using the synthetic Colour - Magnitude Diagram method with three d ifferent types of stellar evolutionary tracks, we estimate values and theoretical uncertainty of distance modulus mod0, reddening E(B-V), age tau and approximate metallicity. The best fit to the data is obtained for 13.8 <= mod0 <= 14.1, 0.64 <= E(B-V) <= 0.65, 2 <= tau <= 2.5 Gyr (depending on the amount of overshooting from convective regions adopted in the stellar models) and solar metallicity.

NGC 6791 is an old, metal-rich star cluster normally considered to be a disk open cluster. Its red giant branch is broad in color yet, to date, there is no evidence for a metallicity spread among its stars. The turnoff region of the main sequence is also wider than expected from broad-band photometric errors. Analysis of the color-magnitude diagram reveals a color gradient between the core of the cluster and its periphery; we evaluate the potential explanations for this trend. While binarity and photometric errors appear unlikely, reddening variations across the face of the cluster cannot be excluded. We argue that a viable alternative explanation for this color trend is an age spread resulting from a protracted formation time for the cluster; the stars of the inner region of NGC 6791 appear to be older by ~1 Gyr on average than those of the outer region.
