Inspired by the recent advances in multiple M2-brane theory, we consider the generalizations of Nahm equations for arbitrary p-algebras. We construct the topological p-algebra quantum mechanics associated to them and we show that this can be obtained as a truncation of the topological p-brane theory previously studied by the authors. The resulting topological p-algebra quantum mechanics is discussed in detail and the relation with the M2-M5 system is pointed out in the p=3 case, providing a geometrical argument for the emergence of the 3-algebra structure in the Bagger-Lambert-Gustavsson theory

We present an explicit matrix algebra regularization of the algebra of volume-preserving diffeomorphisms of the $n$-torus. That is, we approximate the corresponding classical Nambu brackets using $mathfrak{sl}(N^{lceiltfrac{n}{2}rceil},mathbb{C})$-ma trices equipped with the finite bracket given by the completely anti-symmetrized matrix product, such that the classical brackets are retrieved in the $Nrightarrow infty$ limit. We then apply this approximation to the super $4$-brane in $9$ dimensions and give a regularized action in analogy with the matrix regularization of the supermembrane. This action exhibits a reduced gauge symmetry that we discuss from the viewpoint of $L_infty$-algebras in a slight generalization to the construction of Lie $2$-algebras from Bagger-Lambert $3$-algebras.
The Dirac-Higgs bundle is a hyperholomorphic bundle over the moduli space of stable Higgs bundles of coprime rank and degree. We extend this construction to the case of arbitrary rank $n$ and degree $0$, studying the associated connection and curvatu re. We then generalize to the case of rank $n > 1$ the Nahm transform defined by Frejlich and the second named author, which, out of a stable Higgs bundle, produces a vector bundle with connection over the moduli spaces of rank $1$ Higgs bundles. By performing the higher rank Nahm transform we obtain a hyperholomorphic bundle over the moduli space of stable Higgs bundles of rank $n$ and degree $0$, twisted by the gerbe of liftings of the projective universal bundle. Our hyperholomorphic vector bundles over the moduli space of stable Higgs bundles can be seen, in the physicists language, as $(BBB)$-branes twisted by the above mentioned gerbe. We then use the Fourier-Mukai and Fourier-Mukai-Nahm transforms to describe the corresponding dual branes restricted to the smooth locus of the Hitchin fibration. The dual branes are checked to be $(BAA)$-branes supported on a complex Lagrangian multisection of the Hitchin fibration.
Nonassociative structures have appeared in the study of D-branes in curved backgrounds. In recent work, string theory backgrounds involving three-form fluxes, where such structures show up, have been studied in more detail. We point out that under ce rtain assumptions these nonassociative structures coincide with nonassociative Malcev algebras which had appeared in the quantum mechanics of systems with non-vanishing three-cocycles, such as a point particle moving in the field of a magnetic charge. We generalize the corresponding Malcev algebras to include electric as well as magnetic charges. These structures find their classical counterpart in the theory of Poisson-Malcev algebras and their generalizations. We also study their connection to Stueckelbergs generalized Poisson brackets that do not obey the Jacobi identity and point out that nonassociative string theory with a fundamental length corresponds to a realization of his goal to find a non-linear extension of quantum mechanics with a fundamental length. Similar nonassociative structures are also known to appear in the cubic formulation of closed string field theory in terms of open string fields, leading us to conjecture a natural string-field theoretic generalization of the AdS/CFT-like (holographic) duality.
We apply the methods of homology and K-theory for branes wrapping spaces stratified fibered over hyperbolic orbifolds. In addition, we discuss the algebraic K-theory of any discrete co-compact Lie group in terms of appropriate homology and Atiyah-Hir zebruch type spectral sequence with its non-trivial lift to K-homology. We emphasize the fact that the physical D-branes properties are completely transparent within the mathematical framework of K-theory. We derive criteria for D-brane stability in the case of strongly virtually negatively curved groups. We show that branes wrapping spaces stratified fibered over hyperbolic orbifolds carry charge structure and change the additive structural properties in K-homology.
In this paper we present the groundwork for an It^o/Malliavin stochastic calculus and Hidas white noise analysis in the context of a supersymmentry with Z3-graded algebras. To this end we establish a ternary Fock space and the corresponding strong al gebra of stochastic distributions and present its application in the study of stochastic processes in this context.
