M87 is the first extragalactic source detected in the TeV gamma-ray domain that is not a blazar, its large scale jet not being aligned to the line of sight. We present here a multi-blob synchrotron self-Compton model accounting explicitly for large viewing angles and moderate Lorentz factors as inferred from magnetohydrodynamic simulations of jet formation, motivated by the detection of M87 at very high energies (VHE; E > 100GeV). Predictions are presented for the very high-energy emission of active galactic nuclei with extended optical or X-ray jet, which could be misaligned blazars but still show some moderate beaming. We include predictions for 3C273, Cen A and PKS 0521-36.

The University of Durham Mark 6 Telescope has been used to make observations of a number of AGNs visible from the Southern Hemisphere. Results are presented for limits to VHE gamma ray emission from 1ES 0323+022, PKS 0829+046, 1ES 1101-232, Cen A, PK S 1514-24, RXJ 10578-275 and 1ES 2316-423, both for steady emission and for outbursts on timescales of ~ 1 day.
The radiation mechanism of very high energy $gamma$-ray emission from blazars and crucial parameters like magnetic field, and size of the emitting region are not well understood yet. To understand the above mentioned properties of blazars, we observe d five nearby TeV $gamma$-ray emitting blazars (Mrk421, Mrk501, 1ES2344+514, 1ES1218+304 and 3C454.3) and one radio galaxy (M87) using the High Altitude GAmma Ray (HAGAR) telescope. HAGAR is an array of seven telescopes located at Hanle, India to detect Cherenkov light caused by extensive air showers initiated by $gamma$-rays. Mrk421 was observed to undergo one of its brightest flaring episodes on 2010 February 17, and detected by various experiments in X-rays and $gamma$- rays. HAGAR observations of this source during 2010 February 13 - 19, in the energies above 250 GeV show an enhancement in the flux level, with a flux of 6-7 Crab units being detected on 2010 February 17. We present the spectral energy distribution of the source during this flaring episode. In addition to this, the analysis procedure to extract $gamma$-ray signal from HAGAR data is discussed and preliminary results on all the AGNs are presented.

Curved broad-band spectral distributions of non-thermal sources like blazars are described well by a log-parabolic (LP) law where the second degree term measures the curvature. LP energy spectra can be obtained for relativistic electrons by means of a statistical acceleration mechanism whose probability of acceleration depends on energy. In this paper we compute the spectra radiated by an electron population via synchrotron (S) and Synchro-Self Compton(SSC) processes to derive the relations between the LP parameters. These spectra were obtained by means of an accurate numerical code. We found that the ratio between the curvature parameters of the S spectrum to that of the electrons is equal to about 0.2 instead of 0.25, the value foreseen in the delta approximation. Inverse Compton spectra are also intrinsically curved and can be approximated by a log-parabola only in limited ranges. The curvature parameter, estimated around the SED peak, may vary from a lower value than that of the S spectrum up to that of emitting electrons depending on whether the scattering is in the Thomson or in the Klein-Nishina regime. We applied this analysis to computing the SSC emission from the BL Lac object Mkn 501 during the large flare of April 1997. We fit simultaneous BeppoSAX and CAT data and reproduced intensities and spectral curvatures of both components with good accuracy. The large curvature observed in the TeV range was found to be mainly intrinsic, and therefore did not require a large pair production absorption against the extragalactic background. We regard this finding as an indication that the Universe is more transparent at these energies than previously assumed by several models found in the literature. This conclusion is supported by recent detection of two relatively high redshift blazars with H.E.S.S.
In this paper, we present results of TeV $gamma$--ray observations of the high synchrotron peaked BL Lac object 1ES 1218+304 (z=0.182) with the $TACTIC$ (TeV Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescope with Imaging Camera). The observations are primarily motivat ed by the unusually hard GeV-TeV spectrum of the source despite its relatively large redshift. The source is observed in the TeV energy range with the $TACTIC$ from March 1, 2013 to April 15, 2013 (MJD 56352--56397) for a total observation time of 39.62 h and no evidence of TeV $gamma$--ray activity is found from the source. The corresponding 99$%$ confidence level upper limit on the integral flux above a threshold energy of 1.1 TeV is estimated to be 3.41 $times10^{-12}$ photons cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$ (i.e $<23%$ Crab Nebula flux) assuming a power law differential energy spectrum with photon index 3.0, as previously observed by the $MAGIC$ and $VERITAS$ telescopes. For the study of multi-wavelength emission from the source, we use nearly simultaneous optical, UV and and X--ray data collected by the UVOT and XRT instruments on board the emph{Swift} satellite and high energy $gamma$--ray data collected by the Large Area Telescope on board the emph{Fermi} satellite. We also use radio data at 15 GHz from OVRO 40 m telescope in the same period. No significant increase of activity is detected from radio to TeV $gamma$--rays from 1ES1218+304 during the period from March 1, 2013 to April 15, 2013.
Milagrito, a detector sensitive to very high energy gamma rays, monitored the northern sky from February 1997 through May 1998. With a large field of view and a high duty cycle, this instrument was well suited to perform a search for TeV gamma-ray bu rsts (GRBs). We report on a search made for TeV counterparts to GRBs observed by BATSE. BATSE detected 54 GRBs within the field of view of Milagrito during this period. An excess of events coincident in time and space with one of these bursts, GRB 970417a, was observed by Milagrito. The excess has a chance probability of $2.8 times 10^{-5}$ of being a fluctuation of the background. The probability for observing an excess at least this large from any of the 54 bursts is $1.5 times 10^{-3}$. No significant correlations were detected from the other bursts.
